A seizure is a sudden, uncontrolled electrical disturbance in the brain. It can cause changes in one’s behaviour, movements or feelings and levels of consciousness.
There are two major types of seizures: focal onset seizures and generalised onset seizures.
Focal onset seizures, also known as partial onset seizures, occurs in one area of the brain.
Generalised onset seizures start in both sizes of the brain simultaneously and common types include the tonic-clonic, absence and atonic.
Treatments for seizures depend on the causes - Siow Neurology Headache & Pain Centres can help identify the causes and recommend suitable (medical and/or surgical) treatment options for the patient.
