What do you do with the leftover empty plastic (PET) bottles lying around? According to our volunteer Iris, it's the perfect opportunity to get creative and make some art with them! ♻🎨 Recycled art is a great and sustainable way to not only make something new and unique, but do our part in saving the earth too.

Thank you Iris for the session, and we hope participating members got to take with them some new ideas for crafting other recyclable materials back at home! :)

Our centre recently concluded our annual Functional Screening cm Silver Carnival! Were you there?

This year's annual Functional Screening cm Silver Carnival event was held on 30th July, located at both our centre bays as well as the nearby pavilion. The pavilion housed booths from partners including NKF, SG Digital Office, Silver Generation Office, CPF Board, as well as the Singapore Police Force, sharing useful information ranging from personal wealth management to healthy living and personal safety to the seniors and residents.

Over at our centre bays, functional screenings were facilitated by Project Silver Screen for senior residents. At just a small subsidised fee, participants got to check that their eyes, ears and mouth were in good health, all in the convenient venue that was our active ageing centre.

Thank you to all our staff, partners and especially our participating seniors for joining us in this year's screening and carnival event! A special shoutout to our lovely volunteers as well for lending a hand in ensuring a smooth event for everyone! See you again next year ‍🙋🏻‍♀️🙋🏻🙋🏻‍♂️

🇸🇬SG60 celebrations with Active Global❤️🤍

On 6 August, we scaled up our regular Wednesday La Kopi session into a party to celebrate this year's National Day! While attendees participated in some sing-alongs and games per the usual La Kopi sessions, this one was special as everyone made the effort to turn up in red, and had a blast celebrating with a Singapore flag in hand, pom-poms and clappers, and even a customised cake for Singapore's 60th birthday. Thank you everyone for taking the time to join us on that day, and we hope you all had fun! :)

It was the perfect weather last Thursday to be outdoors - and that's exactly what our seniors did, going on a Learning Journey to the 22nd World Aquatics Championship! 🚣🏻🏀⛳

Organised by Sport Singapore, the Learning Journey had a variety of activities and zones for our attendees to explore. From fun photo op zones to a dedicated area for games like mini golf, ball toss and hoop shot, there was definitely an activity for everyone. Some of our attendees were exceptionally adventurous and even had a go at a rowing simulation machine!

From time to time, our centre welcomes visitors to partake in activities and sometimes even put up a performance for our seniors. Earlier this week, we opened our doors to the cute pre-schoolers from E-Bridge for some intergenerational activity time!

Our seniors were treated to song and dance performances from the kids - including the classic 'Rasa Sayang', ahead of the upcoming Racial Harmony Day. Our seniors and the kids then participated in some drawing activity time together, the joint activity aimed at encouraging intergenerational bonding and interaction between the two generations. Thank you and see you again soon, kids! 🙋🏻‍♀️🙋🏻‍♂️😊

🥳💃🏻🕺🏻 Last Tuesday on July 1st, our centre commemorated the 1st anniversary of our 广场舞 (Dance Exercise) activity programme, with a celebratory event at the nearby pavilion just outside our active ageing centre!

Attendees were treated to some bingo game time, a yummy buffet-style lunch, and some song and dance exercise performances fit for the joyous occasion. Prizes were also given out to lucky draw winners, and appreciation awards for our volunteers and members who help make the activity sessions happen every time. Of course, per 广场舞 Dance Exercise tradition, a birthday celebration was also held for our fellow July babies. Cheers to another year of 广场舞 Dance Exercise ahead with us here at Active Global Active Ageing Centre (Care) @ Fernvale Glades! 🥂🎊
