In the Spotlight with:
Mr John Chen
CEO of Charis Manor Nursing Home
Prior joining Charis Manor Nursing Home (CMNH) as CEO, John worked in technology development and founded his own startup, ezCare, a home care service platform funded by a prestige local medical VC.
He then made the transition to the supply chain industry with CIC Supply Chain, a joint venture between Singapore Exchange, Global eTrade Services (GeTS) and Chinese e-commerce giant Zall Group. He was the Chief Information Officer, successfully leading platform operations and product development.
With these experiences, John’s entrepreneur senses saw the potential on how business-to-business (B2B) e-commerce solutions can boost nursing homes, at both the individual and corporate level. And that was when he met Lynn Chow, then Executive Chairman of CMNH. He proposed on the idea of implementing B2B which can further enhance the Home’s services to their residents.
Working in a nursing home requires passion, care, and patience as compared to his past work experience. But John decided to keep following his passion as he enjoys the time spent in CMNH. To him, it is more like a break for him from the corporate and financial world.
John’s goals for Charis Manor Nursing Home are:
1. Centre-based nursing care and community rehabilitation:
To nourish CMNH into a beautiful boutique home for residents with centre-based nursing care and community rehabilitation.
2. Healthcare training:
To develop and implement training courses developed by CMNH & CSM Academy International, to other homes to benefit local hospice care providers and nurses.
3. E-commerce platforms:
Focusing on e-commerce to meet corporate needs such as medical supplies on demand, shared healthcare workers, and some electronic patient record (EPR) online tools development.
