As an instructor, my and get tight after a day of looking at clients and bending over for tactile work, especially when I’m on work with post-surgery clients.

Doing heavy on all things shoulders coupled with , especially the , and applying in the movements indeed spruced up my posture.

Back in the corporate teaching . are great for to not only provide the resistance, they also create a closed chain which enhances muscle recruitment and increases mindbody connection.

One thing that I always stressed in Matwork classes is to move in joint centration. For individuals with higher levels of mobility, I’m like the little bird perched on their shoulders nagging them to soften their joints instead of hyperextending them.

Building strength while maintaining joint integrity requires a balanced approach that emphasises form over quantity, with progressive loading.

To allow you to and in a straight line, there is some level of controlled especially on the spinal column, allowing the arms to swing contralaterally. The arm swing counterbalances the when the leg pushes off, so the body remains facing forward.
