so shut your eyes do you hear the ocean
crashing quietly can you imagine the ocean
seat yourself. is that a breeze coming by?

now take a deep breath. do you smell the ocean
salt, sand, seashells you...
smell the ocean? the iridescent, colour-changing waves
random ups and downs and diagonal and clockwise and in any direction
there is no repetition.

reach out and feel it. can you touch the ocean
your hand is stopped. the waves are solid
a 2D trick of technology. you are not touching the ocean.
why aren’t we at the beach if we wanted the ocean?
there is nothing here but separ ation.

so open your eyes - it is but a sound recording hidden away
and stand up - it becomes apparent; it was just the AC
salt, sand, seashells - there are none at this beach
moving across the pixels - flat and daunted
shimmering, shining no more - these are just waves
no emerald or sky or even transparent - these are just
black waves

now follow your heart. what do you feel
but you have been limited by the screen.

the whooshing and crashing now feels like nothing
and this mobile yet stagnant body cannot make me feel anything
why aren’t we outside
if we wanted nature?
The opaqueness. We have been separated from the light.
