🇸🇬 On this day 3 years ago, then Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong announced at the National Day Rally 2022 that the government would repeal section 377A of the Penal Code in parliament, effectively decriminalising same s*x intimacy between consenting adult men in private and in public.

🏳️‍🌈🏳️‍⚧️ This announcement came after more than 15 years of advocacy, parliamentary petitions, constitutional challenges & numerous community efforts.

Oogachaga was represented at the event by executive director Leow Yangfa, who was then invited to speak to the media in response to the PM's announcement.

How has your life changed in Singapore since then? For better, or worse, or no change at all?

🇸🇬 [Appeal for participants] An interesting piece of research led by the Institute of Policy Studies (IPS), to look at emerging and unconventional patterns of household formation in Singapore.

🏳️‍🌈🏳️‍⚧️ By definition, this would also include LGBTQ+ families, and also households of q***r singles coming together to live in "families of choice" instead of family of origin.

🖤💜🤍💛 Today is International Non-Binary People's Day! 💛🤍💜🖤 First observed in 2012, this day aims to raise awareness of issues faced by non-binary people around the world, and to celebrate diverse gender identies that do not fall under the gender binary.

Did you know: the person who started International Non-Binary People's Day, Katje Von Loon, chose 14 July to mark this day as it is in the middle of International Women's Day and International Men's Day!

"These items include a chest binder, passed on from one person going through their gender journey to another, and a phone pouch that had held the first phone used for the Oogachaga counselling hotline set up almost two decades ago for the q***r community."
