We’re launching intimate circle shares (every fortnight) starting in Feb to support expression & connection with ourselves and others. These circles are a safe space, bound by confidentiality and compassionate listening, that allow our emotions to take space. Each circle is moderated by a therapist and educator.
There is a growing body of evidence in the scientific community to support how and why the body stores emotion. Think about the last time you were angry, and bring your attention to what your physical experience of that emotion was. You likely gritted your teeth, tightened your jaw, furrowed your brow, and clenched your fists, on a conscious or subconscious level.
These powerful emotions, and so many others – including traumatic experiences – are felt and expressed in the body in an undeniably physical way. They can also become trapped in the body, as we are often socialised to suppress our feelings, swallow our words, hold back anger and grief, and not prioritise our need for pleasure. Instead of allowing emotions, which is energy in motion, to flow through our bodies, we end up accumulating them in particular parts of the body, which can then manifest in physical discomforts and ills.
Through these small circle shares, learn to ground back into the body, explore the depths of your emotion and gain more clarity and insight to navigate the world.

We cannot begin to stress how important it is to breathe right. A lot of us don’t think we need to learn how to breathe properly but in reality, we could all use a bit of help in breathing more efficiently. If you think of it, it’s a movement that we do more than any other in our entire lifetime.
With proper breathing mechanics, we are more able to support all the functions and systems in our body, thereby better regulating our health.
It’s common to see that people with imbalanced health generally have compromised, shortened or reverse breathing patterns.
Just by looking at our bodies these days, we tend to have a lot of tension in our neck, shoulders and upper back. Part of that problem stems from our bad breathing habits.
We tend to breathe primarily through our upper chest, taking very shallow breaths which are essentially using of our accessory breathing muscles more than our primary ones.
What we want to be able to do is breathe deep and 3 dimensionally.
Our diaphragm is capable of increasing all three dimensions of the thoracic cavity - the vertical (top-to-bottom), the transverse (side-to-side) and the sagittal (front-to-back).
Like a ball inside your belly, enlarging on every inhale and deflating slightly on the exhale.
