It's been a while I had not been writing here.
I am delighted to share that today marks my 52nd birthday. Thank you Allah for the life given to me thru my mother, Asiah Mohamed Yusoff, I would like to express my heartfelt appreciation to her for bringing me into this world.
Lately, I have been occupied with launching our sister Company, Dapur Mami's physical stall, offering the 1st Infused Baked Chicken Rice and other local favourites.
No worries Hanaketo is ongoing still and we are planning to have Hanaketo Bakery & establish our first physical stall or cafe in the CBD area next year 2026. In Shaa Allah.
Cooking and sharing delicious food with others is my passion, and I strive to provide exceptional experiences for my customers. The success of Hanaketo and Dapur Mami can be attributed to the loyalty and support of our valued customers. Your unwavering encouragement has enabled us to overcome challenges and continue growing.

🔥 Imagine tender fish grilled to perfection, then drenched in a creamy, spicy coconut sauce that’s rich, smoky, and irresistibly fragrant.

This Keto Ikan Percik brings all the bold Malay flavors you love—without the carbs. Creamy coconut, tangy lime, and a gentle kick of chili come together to coat each bite in pure indulgence.

Perfect with cauliflower rice or konjac rice, this dish will have you craving every last spoonful.

🐟 Keto Ikan Percik (Grilled Fish with Spiced Coconut Sauce)

Ingredients:

For the fish:

2 whole mackerel / seabass (cleaned, scored) or 4 fillets of salmon/snapper

2 tbsp coconut oil or olive oil

Salt & pepper to taste

For Percik Sauce (Keto version):

2 tbsp coconut oil

3 shallots (or 1 small red onion)

2 garlic cloves

2 cm ginger

2 cm galangal (optional, but authentic)

1 stalk lemongrass (white part only)

2–3 dried chilies (soaked) or fresh red chilies (adjust spice level)

200 ml coconut cream (thick, no sugar added)

½ tsp turmeric powder

1 tsp chili powder or paprika (optional, for color)

1 tsp ground coriander

½ tsp tamarind paste (or squeeze of lime juice for keto-friendly sourness)

Salt to taste

1 sachet keto-friendly sweetener (erythritol/monk fruit), optional

Instructions:

1. Prepare fish – Rub fish with oil, salt, and pepper. Grill, air fry, or bake at 180°C until cooked through and slightly charred.

2. Make spice paste – Blend shallots, garlic, ginger, galangal, lemongrass, and chilies into a smooth paste.

3. Cook paste – Heat oil in pan, sauté blended paste until fragrant and slightly dry.

4. Add spices & coconut cream – Stir in turmeric, chili powder, coriander, then pour in coconut cream. Simmer on low heat until thick and creamy.

5. Season – Add tamarind/lime juice, salt, and a touch of keto sweetener to balance flavors. Stir until sauce is glossy and coats the spoon.

6. Coat fish – Pour sauce generously over grilled fish. Return to oven or grill for 5 minutes to let the sauce “stick” and get smoky.

7. Serve – Garnish with fresh coriander or thinly sliced kaffir lime leaves. Best with keto cauliflower rice or konjac rice.

👉 This version stays low-carb because we skip sugar (use keto sweetener instead) and keep the sauce rich with coconut cream.

Ingredients:

1 whole mackerel or seabass (cleaned)

2 tbsp olive/coconut oil

½ tsp turmeric powder

Salt & pepper

Sambal Kicap:

3 bird’s eye chilies, chopped

2 tbsp soy sauce (keto-friendly)

1 tsp lime juice

½ tsp erythritol (optional)

Method:

1. Rub fish with turmeric, oil, salt, and pepper. Grill until cooked.

2. Mix sambal kicap ingredients and serve as dipping sauce.

Ingredients:

300g prawns, cleaned

1 handful petai (optional if you like)

2 tbsp sambal paste (no sugar)

2 tbsp coconut oil

2 tbsp coconut milk

Method:

2. Add prawns + petai, stir well.
