Lovely surprise from a patient today. She’s currently one year post breast cancer surgery and has completed chemotherapy and radiotherapy. It’s been my privilege to be in this journey with her and I’m so glad to see her happy and doing well.

Had a wonderful time sharing about breast health with the lovely ladies I met at the IWD event organized by NSRCC yesterday evening. The evening ended with a surprise sharing by one of the ladies who is a breast cancer survivor! Truly inspiring to hear her talk about her journey.

Contrary to popular belief, surgery is only a part of what a breast surgeon does. In fact, a lot of my work is also clinic based which involves talking to patients, understanding their needs, allaying their fears, addressing their concerns and educating them on how to take charge of their health. My greatest reward as a doctor is when my patients are able to confidently live their life to the fullest after treatment.
