📚For the love of books📚
⠀⠀
Book sharing provides such wonderful opportunities for quality time with our children, and is awesome for language learning! “But my child is not interested in books!”, you say? Here are some suggestions for engaging the little one who shows little interest in books..
👉 Books that allow for a HANDS-ON experience such as books with flaps, textures, sounds, or manipulatives are great for keeping children involved throughout the book sharing activity.
⠀⠀
👉 Follow your child’s interests! If your child is all about dinosaurs at the moment, then dinosaurs it is! Pop by the library to pick up some fun books on dinosaurs!
⠀⠀
👉Get your child involved in choosing his/her books! Kids love to feel in control. A trip to the library or bookstore to pick out books together may be just what you need to get your child excited about his books!
⠀⠀
👉 If your child does not seem to be interested in the story, talk about the pictures instead. Play “I spy” games, use fun voices, or act out what you see!
⠀⠀
What else have you guys done to get your children interested in books?! I’d love to hear from you! ...
