Caring for two generations can feel like living two lives at once. 🥪
Between work, kids, and ageing parents...it’s easy to lose yourself.

Research shows that caregivers who set boundaries, find small joys, and share responsibilities cope better and stay emotionally healthier. 🌿

Remember, it’s not selfish to take care of yourself. It’s how you keep caring for the ones you love. 💛 Share this with those who need to hear it 🙌

Today we celebrate Autistic Speaking Day — a reminder that communication isn’t one-size-fits-all.

For many autistic individuals, “speaking” goes beyond words. It can mean gestures, visuals, writing, AAC devices, art, or even silence — each a meaningful way of expressing thoughts and emotions. 💭

This day promotes:
💙 Autistic self-advocacy — empowering autistic people to define their own experiences.
💙 Authentic representation — replacing harmful myths with real perspectives.
💙 Community and visibility — encouraging autistic individuals to share their art, writing, and lived stories.

✨ Every voice deserves to be heard — in its own way.
🌍 Be part of the change: listen, learn, and advocate for communication that includes everyone.

Ever wonder what sensory overwhelm feels like for an autistic individual? 🧠🌪️
Bright lights, loud sounds, and too many sensations happening all at the same time — with no way to “filter out” the noise. It isn’t a meltdown by choice, and it isn’t “overreacting.” It’s a nervous system in survival mode.

By slowing down, giving space, and respecting boundaries, we can make the world safer and more inclusive for those who experience sensory overload.

Let’s create a world where sensory needs are understood, not judged. 💙 Share this to spread awareness.

✨ Pick a card… Which one are you today? 🃏💭
Swipe, pause, and choose the card that pulls you in.
Sometimes our mind already knows what our heart needs — we just have to listen. 🌙

As you move through the carousel, take a slow breath.
Notice the words that land.
Notice the feelings that surface.
There’s no “right” card — just your card for today. 💚

💬 Comment your card below and tell us:
— What made you choose it?
We’re listening, always. 🌿

Save this for the days your mind feels heavy, and share it with someone who might need a gentle reminder. 🌸

💛 If you see a child who seems lost — don’t look away.

In August, an 11-year-old boy with autism who went missing reminded us how easily it can happen… and how deeply it affects families.

Children with special needs may wander off not because they’re misbehaving, but because they’re curious, overwhelmed, or trying to find something familiar.

As a community, we can make a difference. 🌱

If you ever come across a child who seems lost:
👉 Stop to check gently
👉 Seek help — call the police or alert nearby staff
👉 Stay with the child until help arrives

At A Kind Place, we believe kindness also means looking out for those who may not have the words to ask for help.
Together, let’s build a more understanding and caring Singapore. 💜

A young man targeted four schoolgirls as young as 11 years old online by posing as a "lovestruck teenager" before taking them to a secluded place where he violated them. How does a predator come into contact with schoolgirls? Lance Alexander and Daniel Martin speak with Ooi Sze Jin, psychologist and Founder of A Kind Place.

💬 “Predators go where children are.”
Our founder and psychologist, Ooi Sze Jin, recently spoke on CNA 938’s TalkBack about how online predators reach young children — and what parents can do to protect them.

Many young people today are digital natives. They grow up online, connecting with friends, sharing stories, and meeting new people. But not everyone they meet has good intentions. Some predators disguise themselves as “friends” or “lovestruck teens,” slowly gaining trust before crossing dangerous lines.

As Sze Jin shared, “Children are still learning right from wrong. They need guidance, not fear.” 💜

Parents and educators play a big role in keeping children safe:
👂 Talk openly about online dangers
📱 Set healthy boundaries for screen time
💬 Stay involved, not intrusive
✨ Teach them to say no and reach out for help when something feels off

At A Kind Place, we believe protecting children starts with awareness, empathy, and honest conversations at home and in schools. 🌱
