On 19 September 2025, a group of 18 employees from idsMED Singapore gathered at the idsMED Learning Academy for a meaningful CSR session in the form of a Moru Doll craft workshop!

The HR team led the session and guided employees on how to twist and shape the fluffy chenille wires, with an extra unique touch from the different clothing items and accessories provided. The energy was vibrant and the purpose deeply fulfilling!

These dolls will be donated to Sengkang General Hospital (SKH) in support of raising funds towards their SKH Better Health Fund under the Advance Medical Research initiative – benefiting both patients and the wider community we serve. 💙

Are heart attacks the number one killer in the world?

According to the World Heart Federation, cardiovascular disease (CVD) is the world’s number one killer, causing over 20.5 million deaths per year.

CVD is a class of diseases that affect the heart or blood vessels (veins and arteries).

More people die from CVD worldwide than from any other cause, with 85% due to coronary heart diseases (e.g heart attacks) and cerebrovascular diseases (e.g. strokes).

That means that heart attack is the most prominent cause of death within the CVD category.

So, most likely, heart attacks and strokes are the number one killer in the world.

Our Product Sales Specialists from the Intermediate and Long-Term Care (ILTC) team showcased innovative technologies designed to enhance the daily lives of older adults, with a focus on promoting physical well-being and motivation through engaging solutions.

During this intimate and interactive session, more than 30 seniors from the public had the opportunity to explore and experience both the PARO Therapeutic Robot and the SilverFit system. These demonstrations sparked great interest, offering participants a hands-on look at how such technologies can bring enjoyment and support healthy and active ageing.

The heart has 4 main areas or chambers. Each is masterfully designed in such detail, that it functions perfectly to receive blood flowing into the heart and pump blood out of it. Without us telling it to, it works to keep our body functioning well.

Our heart is like an engine in a car. You can’t see it, but it works constantly. Even when we sleep, it just beats!

Our heartbeat indicates that it is working hard to pump our blood, carrying oxygen and nutrients, so that our body can function properly.

And, yes, it typically beats around 100,000 times a day!

Never miss a beat. Take care of your heart!

According to the WHO, sepsis is one of the most frequent causes of death worldwide. Although released from a study back in 2020, the numbers show that there were approximately 48.9 million cases and 11 million sepsis-related deaths worldwide, representing 20% of all global deaths.

Sepsis is a life-threatening condition that arises when the body’s response to infection causes injury to its own tissues and organs. It is frequently a final common pathway to death for many infectious diseases worldwide.

You may not have heard much about sepsis, but it can be considered a global crisis that requires our collective attention.
