What began behind prison walls has blossomed into a beautiful showcase of creativity and healing. Three of our residents first encountered Pastel Nagomi Art while in cluster S2—and upon their emplacement in Teen Challenge, they continued their artistic journey with guidance from our dedicated trainers, Angela Chin and Dorothy Wong. For over 3 months, these amazing ladies gave their time and heart to teach, guide, and encourage our contributors.
At first, many of our guys were hesitant—unsure of their skills and low in confidence. But with patience and persistence, they overcame their fears and created 8 stunning pieces that were featured at the exhibition on 20 June 2025.
One contributor commented: Learning Nagomi Art has been a calming and fulfilling journey, bringing peace, joy, and self-discovery through each soft pastel stroke.
One of the most moving moments was seeing the residents' families come to support them—proof that healing is not just personal, but also communal. One family member told us that seeing her loved one learn Nagomi Art and attending the exhibition has been truly been heartening.
This initiative started by Singapore Prison Services is more than just art. It's about restoration, confidence, and transformation—a journey from brokenness to beauty, from prison to purpose.
