Now that we know why taking breaks matters, ready to learn how to actually take one?

Listen as Daphne shares three simple yet meaningful tips to help us pause and recharge:
💡 Tip 1: Step away from your screen. Give your mind and eyes a breather.
💡 Tip 2: Check in with yourself – are you living a balanced life that feels fulfilling?
💡 Tip 3: Find physical comforts such as a warm shower or a comforting drink to help us rest and reset.

Rest isn’t just important – it’s what helps us stay grounded, recharge our energy, and show up fully for the people and goals that matter most to us. 💙

Taking a break doesn’t have to mean dropping everything and doing nothing. Taking a walk in nature, reading a book, or spending a quiet Friday evening at home – these are all forms of rest too! 📚✨

When we don’t give ourselves space to pause, it’s easy to get snappy or lose our temper with the people around us. That’s why finding moments of rest, in ways that feel right for us, matters for us to show up as the best version of ourselves.

Let Daphne take us through why taking breaks is so important for our wellbeing, and how offering ourselves rest and self-compassion allows us to extend that same compassion to others too.

Have you been getting enough rest lately? 😴🌿

In a world that celebrates busyness, it’s easy to feel guilty for slowing down. But rest isn’t a luxury – it’s essential for our wellbeing and helps us show up as your best self for the people and things that matter. ✨

Hear from Daphne Ong, our Learning Consultant & Coach, as she shares why giving ourselves permission to rest is important, how it helps us recharge, and why we deserve to rest without guilt. Because sometimes, the kindest thing we can do for ourself is to pause. 💛

💭Wondering what self-care means? Or how it should look like?

🔎Here's a clue for us: Self-care looks different for everyone. It is what YOU need at the moment to get through the day or give yourself some comfort.

Self-care isn’t about others. Self-care isn’t selfish - we need to put ourselves first and OWN it! Self-care is a priority - yes, you get to be the main character💅

Be kind to ourselves and prioritise our needs. There should be no guilt, no shame, no judgement. And with this post, defo no reason to forget about self-care.

Lowkey struggling to say “no”? Us too 🫠. No doubt it’s powerful and empowering:

🚧Sets boundaries to protect ourselves mentally and physically
🙅🏻‍♂️Shows that we’re in control
🤹🏼‍♂️Helps us to brain better at tasks on hand
🧘🏻‍♀️Allows us space to breathe

But hold up 🖐. Be ready to get real as “No” often leads to “why”. Still, it shouldn’t keep us from making time daily for quiet reflections and more exercises that can help us focus on us. So if we want self-care to happen, we have to say 🙅🏻‍♂️ first.

Let’s practise now: Are you gonna stop being kind to yourself? Will you gate keep this from friends who need to know this?

As always, we’re here to help:

🐹 Ever noticed how guinea pigs just are? No rush, no fuss, just munching, lounging, and living in the moment.

These small but mighty companions reminded us that self-care doesn’t have to be big or complicated. Sometimes, it’s about slowing down, noticing how we feel, and creating space to reflect. 💭

As our NUS community sat with these curious creatures, we took a moment to ask ourselves:
💙 What does self-care really look like for us?
💙 What helps us feel safe, settled, and supported?
💙 What small acts can we do to show ourselves some kindness?

Thanks to everyone for showing up for yourselves (and the piggies!)🌟

A gentle nudge to check in with yourself today and see what you can learn from our little teachers as you swipe. 📷

🐾 Ever had a cat choose you? In their curious way, they remind us to slow down — to sit with stillness, notice the moment, and reflect. ✨

At our recent Beyond the Fluff workshop, our feline friends took the lead as our NUS community reflected on what self-care meant to them. As individuals who all have different needs and wants, our self-care requires introspection.🐱💭

Sometimes, self-care starts with simply noticing what helps us feel safe, calm, and connected — and giving ourselves time and opportunity to lean into that. Whether it was a soft brush past our legs or a calm, watchful presence nearby, observing the kitties and being in their gentle company nudged us to pause, reflect and reconnect with ourselves.

Thank you to everyone who joined us for this pawsitively peaceful session. 💛

Swipe through for a little feline-fuelled calm and a gentle nudge to reflect on what we truly need.

🐾Need a little pick-me-up? You might be surprised, but our four-legged fur-iends can remind you of a thing or two on self-care!🫶

Our recent fur-laxation sessions with our canine companions gave us meaningful moments of self-reflection. 🐶
By observing them, we were gently reminded to show ourselves self-compassion and reconnect with the present moment. Just like pups, we all thrive under care and kindness too!🧘‍♀️🐕

A huge thank you to everyone who joined us in this reflective space!💛

Here's a reminder to check in with yourself! 🌱💧
Just like this Solaro plant, you need care to grow and blossom. Water yourself with rest, kindness, and some me-time! 🌻

At our Horticulture workshop this year, we took time to reconnect with ourselves through the therapeutic touch of nature. Giving ourselves a moment in the day for nature to take over our senses, relieving the anxiety and cares on our mind, we left feeling a load off our shoulders!

Sometimes we need a little pick-me-up for days that feel heavy, and that's okay. Take some time to yourself to slow down and unwind in nature 🌳
