Our Blooming Bravehearts Social Skills Camp has come to a close!

Throughout the camp, our Bravehearts…
❤️ Made awesome new friends
🌳 Chatted and kept conversations going
🦉 Spoke up with confidence like an Assertive Owl

We also had lots of fun playing games, including an exciting treasure hunt! 🗺️💎 To end the camp, our campers even wrote sweet cards to their newly made friends 💌😊

A big thank you to all Blooming Bravehearts participants, parents, and facilitators for making this camp such a meaningful experience 💙 Stay tuned for the next camp! 🌟

🎙Welcome to the Navigating Neurodiversity podcast! Each episode, we invite a professional, parent, or neurodivergent individual to join us in exploring the science, strategies, and stories surrounding neurodiverse and mental health conditions.

📚In this episode, we are joined by Hemma Patel, Paediatric Speech and Language Therapist From Flourish Therapy. Hemma is a strong believer in going beyond the clinic setting to engage in collaborative work with teachers and parents. Today, we discuss the topic: Collaborating with teachers to support students with communication needs. From expressive and receptive language challenges to social communication differences, we’ll dive into how educators and therapists can work together to create inclusive, supportive learning environments.

Hemma has over 20 years of experience working with children aged 0-19 years. She has worked with children with speech and language delays and disorders in private clinics, mainstream schools and special education schools in the UK and Singapore. Her full bio is available here https://flourishtherapy.sg/

Our conversation covers:
📌 How speech therapists in school settings can collaborate with teachers
📌 Common challenges students with communication needs may face
📌 Practical strategies teachers can implement in their classrooms

Enjoy!

Special thanks to Hemma for working with us on this episode!

The SMU Purple Bazaar 2025 just concluded, an empowering event centered around Persons with Disabilities and uncovering their talents!

We were invited by Shaun from Swords and Stationery, to share their efforts in raising dyslexia awareness through a variety of activities. Whether you left a thumbprint and drew how you felt that day, picked up one of our sensory cubes, or just stopped by to have a chat, we thank you very much for participating in this event with us!

A huge thank you to SMU Purple for having us, and to and their partner PI Games for sharing the experience with ua!

🎙️Welcome to the Navigating Neurodiversity podcast! Each episode, we invite a professional, parent or neurodivergent individual to join us in exploring the science, strategies and stories around neurodiverse and mental health conditions.

📚In this episode, we sit down with the wonderfully wise Dr Yvonne Lek, Principal Psychotherapist from Beacon Psychology, to tackle a difficult but crucial topic—self-harm among youth. In this conversation, we explore the psychological factors behind self-harm, common misconceptions, and how to help those struggling. Yvonne was previously with the Ministry of Education as a teacher and Guidance Officer, and is now in private practice. She has over 15 years of experience working on mental health issues with students in local and international schools. Yvonne’s full bio is available here: https://beaconpsychology.com.sg/yvonne-lek-2/

Our conversation covers:
📌What are some risk factors that contribute to self-harm among youths in Singapore?
📌What can parents do to boost protective factors and reduce chances of self harm?
📌What can parents/teachers do if their child starts to show possible signs of self-harm?

Whether you're a parent, educator, or someone personally affected, this conversation offers insight, understanding, and hope.
