๐Ÿง  Ask Our Specialists: Sports Injuries Edition

We hear these myths all the time. Letโ€™s set the record straight so you can train smarter, recover better, and protect your long-term health.

โŒ Myth #1: โ€œNo pain, no gain.โ€
โœ… Fact: Pain is a warning, not a badge of honor. Sharp or lingering pain can signal serious injury. Donโ€™t ignore itโ€”rest and seek help when needed.

โŒ Myth #2: Static stretching before workouts prevents injury.
โœ… Fact: Static stretches can reduce performance. Opt for dynamic warm-ups like high knees or arm circles to prep your body and reduce injury risk.

โŒ Myth #3: Always apply heat to a new injury.
โœ… Fact: For fresh injuries, use the RICE methodโ€”Rest, Ice, Compression, Elevation. Heat is better for chronic soreness, not swelling.

โŒ Myth #4: If you can move it, itโ€™s not broken.
โœ… Fact: Movement doesnโ€™t rule out fractures. Stress fractures can still allow motion. If pain and swelling persist, get checked by a doctor.

โŒ Myth #5: Rest is the only cure.
โœ… Fact: While rest is key early on, prolonged inactivity can delay healing. Active recovery guided by a physiotherapist helps restore strength and mobility.

๐Ÿ‘‰ Save this post for your next training session, share it with a teammate, and remember: your health comes first. Our orthopaedic team is here to keep you moving safely. ๐Ÿ’ช

Had a blast during the parades or partied a little too hard? Whether you were on your feet all day or celebrating with friends, itโ€™s time to give your body the TLC it deserves. Hereโ€™s how to bounce back like a pro:

Skip the static stretches! After intense activity, dynamic movements like leg swings, arm circles, and torso twists boost circulation and improve mobilityโ€”setting the stage for faster recovery.

Rest doesnโ€™t mean lying still. Gentle movement like walking, swimming, or light yoga helps reduce muscle soreness and stiffness while keeping your blood flowing.

โš  3.
Muscle soreness? Totally fine. Sharp, persistent pain or swelling? Not so much. If discomfort doesnโ€™t improve with rest, itโ€™s time to consult with an orthopaedic specialist.
