♻️ Recycling Disposable Metal Instruments in ED ♻️

Ever thought about how healthcare could contribute to a greener planet?

🏥 Discover how Ng Teng Fong General Hospital's Emergency Department has weaved in a sustainability initiative into their daily practice by recycling disposable metal instruments ♻️. Compared to previous routine of disposing these one-time use instruments as biohazard waste, the team has successfully implemented a new workflow to ensure that these metals are cleaned and recycled.

With more than 78kg of metal instruments recycled from just the first few months of implementation, this project demonstrates how seemingly small changes in everyday practices can contribute to significant environmental benefits in the long run🌎: https://for.sg/child-chi-sg-child-collection-ntfgh2023-388

⚡️Use of Electroconvulsive Therapy in Adolescents in Singapore⚡️

🔍 Did you know that Electroconvulsive Therapy (ECT) is a well-established and highly effective treatment for mental health conditions such as schizophrenia and mood disorders – although most research focuses on adults, with limited evidence available for younger patients?

🧑‍⚕️ A recent study by the Institute of Mental Health (IMH) addressed this gap in research by exploring the outcome of ECT on adolescents, providing evidence that ECT is a safe, rapid & effective treatment for adolescents with schizophrenia, and offering hopes for young people facing severe mental health conditions when conventional treatments fall short. 🌈

Specifically Optimized Prefabricated Insoles (SOPI) for managing mechanical foot pains in the subtle cavus foot: The SOPI trial

🤔 Suffering from persistent mechanical foot pains? Discover a promising solution validated by Tan Tock Seng Hospital (TTSH) in the form of insoles - termed Specifically Optimized Prefabricated Insoles (SOPI)! 👞

👣 While there have been existing uses of both SOPI and its counterpart (Plain Prefabricated Insoles) to ease mechanical foot pains, this study by Tan Tock Seng Hospital (TTSH) was the first to evaluate their clinical effectiveness, through which SOPI was found to be the more effective approach. Coupled with SOPI’s affordability, accessibility & ease of replication, it is no wonder that SOPI comes highly recommended by the project team for management of foot pains!
