We transition through so much in our lives, from work to society to family, that going through mental distress is an expected factor. How our rigorous schedules affect physical health, it equally hampers our mental health as well. If we can move a step forward in acknowledging the factors responsible for mental peace, why can’t we normalise seeking therapy? Some problems in your life may feel tolerable, whereas others may feel overwhelming, intimidating, and unmanageable. Regardless of the intensity, severity, and frequency of your problems, no issue is too small or too big to benefit from therapy.

Therapy is an essential medium of communication that helps us deal with a range of issues, from daily stress to relationship issues to trauma. It helps us manage our mental health conditions and is a preventive measure undertaken to avoid any mental illness.

It may take some consideration before you decide you’re ready for therapy, but don’t let the stigmatised norms affect your health. It is okay not to feel okay, it is okay to talk about your feelings, and it is okay to seek help.

Our therapist is ready to help you. Book an appointment to see our therapist by clicking on the link in our bio.

Body dysmorphic disorder is a mental health condition in which you can't stop thinking about one or more perceived defects or flaws (which could be minor or not be seen by others) in your appearance. You may feel so embarrassed, ashamed and anxious that leads to you avoiding social situations. Body dysmorphic disorder usually doesn't get better on its own. If left untreated, it may get worse over time, leading to anxiety, extensive medical bills, severe depression, and even suicidal thoughts.

We try to give our bodies value with numbers. We’re obsessed with the number on the scale and the circumference of our waist.

We humans are more than a category on a pie chart. We are more than our body shape. Internet tell us we are shaped like a fruit, but we are shaped by the experiences that have made us the people we are today.

Our bodies may not be light, but inside we are shrouded with light. We may be soft where we’ve been told we ought to be hard and toned, but it’s in our softness that others feel comforted in the midst of their problems.

Our bodies are amazing. They can do so much, for ourselves and for others. We are each beautiful in our own right.

When thoughts of self-doubt pop in your head, remember to have faith in yourself.  Believing you do will make it so. Moving from self-doubt to self-belief may take a little time, especially if you’ve sat in the “I’m not good enough” zone for a long time. Your mind may tell you things — things that stem from long-held limiting beliefs — that but doesn’t mean those thoughts are true, either. Examine your beliefs about yourself and think about whether those beliefs are loving and uplifting, or negative and stifling. If any of those beliefs about yourself tear you down, they’re not true now and they never were. One of the greatest lessons you’ll learn in your life is to love yourself.  That means choosing to believe in yourself.  It also means  embracing self-acceptance rather than self-criticism.  You need to choose to believe in yourself even when life is hard and you’re facing uphill battles.  You are more powerful than you realize … you can do more than you’re telling yourself you can do.
