𝗩𝗶𝘁𝗶𝗹𝗶𝗴𝗼 is a skin condition in which melanocytes, or pigment-producing cells, die or stop producing melanin, causing well-demarcated white patches to appear.

While the exact cause of vitiligo remains unknown, the loss of melanocytes is believed to arise from several contributing factors:

𝗚𝗲𝗻𝗲𝘁𝗶𝗰 – between 6 to 38 percent of vitiligo patients have a family history of the disorder.

𝗔𝘂𝘁𝗼𝗶𝗺𝗺𝘂𝗻𝗲 – when circulating autoantibodies target the melanocytes, this leads to loss of function.

𝗘𝗻𝘃𝗶𝗿𝗼𝗻𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗮𝗹 – the increased sensitivity to oxidative stress and neurochemicals produced by nerve endings in the skin are toxic to melanocytes.

To restore melanin and regain skin colour, various treatments are available, including UVB phototherapy that is effective for moderate to severe vitiligo and safe for children and pregnant women.

𝗪𝗮𝗿𝘁𝘀 are small, contagious skin growths caused by the human papillomavirus (HPV). The virus enters through tiny cuts or abrasions in the skin, leading to excess cell growth.

They can appear on many areas of the body, such as the face, forearms, and fingers. On the palms or soles, warts often look flat. Plantar warts (on the soles) may grow inward from the pressure of standing and walking, and can be painful.

In some cases, warts may resolve on their own, particularly in young children. However, spontaneous healing is less common in older children and adults, and treatment is usually recommended.

One of the most effective and widely used methods is cryotherapy, where liquid nitrogen is applied to freeze off the wart.
