Pelvic Congestion Syndrome (PCS)—also known as Pelvic Venous Disorder (PeVD)—is a commonly misunderstood and misdiagnosed cause of chronic pelvic pain. Its symptoms often mimic those of conditions like endometriosis, fibroids, or ovarian cysts, but unlike these, PCS/PeVD is a venous disorder, not a disease of the solid organs.

Standard gynaecological scans typically cannot detect PCS/PeVD. Diagnosis requires a Dynamic Pelvic Duplex Ultrasound, which assesses blood flow in the pelvic veins—and this must be done by a vascular specialist.

If you suspect PCS/PeVD may be affecting you, reach out to us:

Navigating the effects of childbirth can be challenging. Vaginal delivery can sometimes weaken the pelvic floor, which may worsen symptoms of Pelvic Congestion Syndrome (PCS) and contribute to issues like urinary incontinence and reduced vaginal sensation.

While treatments can help, strengthening the pelvic floor through targeted exercises is key to long-term improvement. Swipe to see some exercises you can do at home.

Let’s talk about s*x—more specifically, painful s*x.

Experiencing persistent pain during or after in*******se (known as dyspareunia) is not normal. Studies show that 8% to 39.5% of women experience dyspareunia, and it may be a symptom of Pelvic Venous Disorder (PeVD).

There’s no one-size-fits-all approach when it comes to treating Pelvic Venous Disorders (PeVD). While many patients find relief through non-invasive outpatient procedures, others may benefit from minimally invasive treatments that target the underlying vein issues. In rare cases, open surgery may be necessary.

That’s why an accurate diagnosis and thorough symptom assessment are essential—so treatment can be tailored to your unique condition and needs.
