Tips To Reduce Back Pain And Stress During The Holiday Season🎅

It is no surprise that the holiday season can be stressful. It is the time of year where we are constantly rushing around to get everything done before Christmas and New Years. This can lead to back pain and stress.
There are a few things you can do this holiday season reduce back pain and stress during the holidays. Bodyworks and Rehab is here to help with some helpful tips:

• Quick Workout . 🏃‍♀️💪 If you run out of time for a full exercise regimen, think about switching to a shorter routine or splitting up your workout into smaller sessions throughout the day. A brief lap around the block, a challenging 20-minute session in the gym (try some high-intensity interval training, or HIIT, on the bike or elliptical), or even just a minute of squats, pushups, or sit-ups will all work. Your metabolism will increase and you'll have more energy if you do something quick and simple.

• Plan What you Eat. 🍣🍷😍Christmas time is undoubtedly a time when you can quickly gain unwanted pounds. Due to increased load bearing and altered body posture, weight gain can exacerbate neck, back, and joint discomfort. However, it can also have an impact on your hormones, which can have additional negative effects on your health. Before the holiday meals, gatherings, and parties, make sure you have a plan in place.

• Simplify Shopping.💳😇 The holiday season is one of the busiest times of the year. For many people, this means spending a lot of time shopping for gifts and carrying them around. Carrying heavy gifts can cause back pain, which is why it’s important to take precautions to avoid this problem. Consider gift cards or internet shopping to make it simpler for yourself while choosing gifts. You may skip the long lines, heavy lifting, and added stress that are sometimes associated with looking for Christmas presents.

• Decorate with Family and Friends.🎄👨‍👩‍👧‍👦 The holidays are a time of celebration and togetherness with family and friends. However, the season also brings with it a lot of stress. There are many ways to reduce back pain during the holiday season. One way is to hang ornaments on a tree together with your friend or family member so you can reduce the risk of injury from heavy lifting and bending over for long periods of time.

• Keep Moving. 🚶The "Perfect" posture does not actually exist. This is primarily because we were designed to move. Even with excellent posture while sitting or standing, spending hours in one position will stress and strain your spine and interfere with your neural system. In order to shift the loads on your spine while traveling, whether by car, bus, train, or airplane, get up from your seat (or outside if you're on a plane!) every so often. Don't spend the entire Christmas lunch and dinner sitting on your behind. Get up and engage in some games with the kids, or at the very least, get moving and go for a stroll or lend a hand around the house.

• See a Physiotherapist. 💆‍♂️💆‍♀️💆Even if you are "pain-free," a pre-holiday check-up might be highly beneficial. Being in top physical and mental condition and having a healthy Body will go a long way toward easing the strain of the holiday season. When your body is free from interference, it will be able to handle the stresses that are placed on it (travel, eating, and family disputes ) 😇better.

If you have stress-related issues that might be pushed over the edge by the Christmas period, let us help you take control of them at Bodyworks and Rehab.

Most Common Gym and Weightlifting Injuries

It's common to have soreness the day after working out at the gym or lifting weights, which is acceptable. However, some body parts are more vulnerable to damage than others, and if you consistently feel aches and pains in these places after working out, your body is trying to alert you that something is wrong.

Here are the most common injuries you can get while working out at the gym and in the weight room. Take caution to avoid these injuries!

• Muscle Pull and Strain
• Shoulder Injury
• Lower Back Pain and Strain
• Knee Injury
• Pectoral Injury

How Can These Injuries Be Prevented?

Even though weightlifting is an excellent form of physical fitness, it comes with its fair share of risks. These injuries occur when there is excessive pressure or awkward movement on a joint.

If you want to play it safe and avoid these injuries, take time to warm up before exercise, stretch between sets of strength training exercises, and stick with weights that are heavy enough to challenge you but not so heavy that they cause pain.

The right alterations to your gym regimen can be implemented by working with a competent Physiotherapist, and at Bodyworks and Rehab, we provide a variety of therapies for injuries caused by weightlifting and other strenuous exercises.
Visit us and we will help you get back in the game as soon as possible.

Save your feet👌

Plantar fasciitis is a condition that causes pain in the heel, arch, or ball of the foot. The pain is usually felt when standing or walking.

The plantar fascia is a thick band of tissue that runs from the bottom of your heel to the ball of your foot and supports your arch. If this tissue becomes inflamed or develops tiny tears, it can cause pain in these areas.

Plantar fasciitis affects people who are on their feet all day as well as athletes like runners and ballet dancers.

It can be caused by many different factors, including:
Muscle imbalances in your feet or legs
Poorly fitting shoes or high arches
Pronation
Excessive weight gain or pregnancy
Having flat feet or high arches
Having tight calf muscles

The majority of patients get better with straightforward therapies including running rest, plantar fascia stretching, and foot strengthening exercises. A tennis or golf ball rolled over the plantar fascia may also be beneficial. Additionally, a straightforward shoe insole might aid to support the arch.

The best way to get rid of Plantar Fasciitis is by using advanced treatments that go deep into the tissue and break up the inflammation.

Put an end to your Plantar Fasciitis!

WHAT IS A TENNIS ELBOW?

Tennis elbow, commonly known as lateral epicondylitis, is an injury where the lateral side of the elbow hurts. Tennis elbow is a form of tendinitis that causes discomfort where the tendons from your forearm muscles join to the bony prominence of your elbow.
Tennis elbow is comparable to a golfer's elbow, a disorder that affects the tendon on the inside of the elbow.
Tennis Elbow
The upper extremities, particularly the elbow and upper or lower arm, are where the tennis elbow most frequently produces pain. Additionally, you can feel pain when using your hands for work and tenderness in the bony k**b on the outside of your elbow. The following activities can also become really painful:

• Lifting items
• Making a fist
• Opening a door
• Shaking hands
• Straightening the wrist

Tennis elbow is a perfectly treatable illness, and there are a variety of non-surgical treatments available, such as:

• ice to lessen discomfort and swelling.
• To prevent further injury to the elbow, use an elbow strap.
• Taking anti-inflammatory drugs;
• Engaging in flexibility and range of motion exercises;
• Receiving physical therapy to help the muscles being stretched and strengthened.
