Tips To Reduce Back Pain And Stress During The Holiday Season🎅
It is no surprise that the holiday season can be stressful. It is the time of year where we are constantly rushing around to get everything done before Christmas and New Years. This can lead to back pain and stress.
There are a few things you can do this holiday season reduce back pain and stress during the holidays. Bodyworks and Rehab is here to help with some helpful tips:
• Quick Workout . 🏃♀️💪 If you run out of time for a full exercise regimen, think about switching to a shorter routine or splitting up your workout into smaller sessions throughout the day. A brief lap around the block, a challenging 20-minute session in the gym (try some high-intensity interval training, or HIIT, on the bike or elliptical), or even just a minute of squats, pushups, or sit-ups will all work. Your metabolism will increase and you'll have more energy if you do something quick and simple.
• Plan What you Eat. 🍣🍷😍Christmas time is undoubtedly a time when you can quickly gain unwanted pounds. Due to increased load bearing and altered body posture, weight gain can exacerbate neck, back, and joint discomfort. However, it can also have an impact on your hormones, which can have additional negative effects on your health. Before the holiday meals, gatherings, and parties, make sure you have a plan in place.
• Simplify Shopping.💳😇 The holiday season is one of the busiest times of the year. For many people, this means spending a lot of time shopping for gifts and carrying them around. Carrying heavy gifts can cause back pain, which is why it’s important to take precautions to avoid this problem. Consider gift cards or internet shopping to make it simpler for yourself while choosing gifts. You may skip the long lines, heavy lifting, and added stress that are sometimes associated with looking for Christmas presents.
• Decorate with Family and Friends.🎄👨👩👧👦 The holidays are a time of celebration and togetherness with family and friends. However, the season also brings with it a lot of stress. There are many ways to reduce back pain during the holiday season. One way is to hang ornaments on a tree together with your friend or family member so you can reduce the risk of injury from heavy lifting and bending over for long periods of time.
• Keep Moving. 🚶The "Perfect" posture does not actually exist. This is primarily because we were designed to move. Even with excellent posture while sitting or standing, spending hours in one position will stress and strain your spine and interfere with your neural system. In order to shift the loads on your spine while traveling, whether by car, bus, train, or airplane, get up from your seat (or outside if you're on a plane!) every so often. Don't spend the entire Christmas lunch and dinner sitting on your behind. Get up and engage in some games with the kids, or at the very least, get moving and go for a stroll or lend a hand around the house.
• See a Physiotherapist. 💆♂️💆♀️💆Even if you are "pain-free," a pre-holiday check-up might be highly beneficial. Being in top physical and mental condition and having a healthy Body will go a long way toward easing the strain of the holiday season. When your body is free from interference, it will be able to handle the stresses that are placed on it (travel, eating, and family disputes ) 😇better.
