This is a very good article on why so many men resist therapy. As an agency which specializes in men's issues, we recognise that much needs to be done to encourage more men to seek help when they feel that they are are alone, that expressing themselves openly is too risky, or are fearful of what they might discover.

It's throwback Thursday, and we are re-sharing a post from last year, where we provided our (then newly launched) Critical Incident Support services for the first time. We supported crew members involved in a significant navigational incident, which resulted in a vessel collision.

Our response was very well received, both by the affected ship’s Master and those responsible for the vessel management.

Our team, working with crisis response experts, is ready to respond to industrial accidents and incidents, experienced more often in high risk industries such as shipping, oil & gas and construction.

Providing immediate support can help those affected to address any concerns, restore a sense of calm & normalcy, and avoid longer term issues such as PTSD.

Yesterday, we spent the day providing online support to the crew members of a vessel who had been affected by the death of a surveyor who fell into the ocean when disembarking, despite their best efforts to rescue and resuscitate him.

Whilst this is obviously a tragic incident, we are glad that the ship owners decided to offer support to those affected crew members.

We attended to the emotional reactions of the affected parties, which helped them process their experiences. All who attended the group presentation and had individual private sessions with us were grateful for the support and felt like a weight had been lifted.
