Reimagining Wound Healing with Amphibian-Derived Innovation

Chronic wounds demand more than conventional care. At Cuprina, we’ve developed a biologically advanced solution to meet the challenge.

Introducing ANURAN SP1 — a next-generation collagen sponge dressing made from native Type I bullfrog collagen. Engineered to accelerate healing post-debridement, ANURAN SP1 provides a microporous scaffold that manages exudate, reduces inflammation, and supports granulation — guiding wounds toward closure.

With superior biocompatibility, tensile strength, and thermostability, ANURAN SP1 is more than a dressing — it’s a platform for regenerative recovery.

The global healthcare landscape is increasingly recognizing the value of integrative and holistic approaches to patient care. In May 2025, the World Health Organization (WHO) launched its first-ever Traditional, Complementary, and Integrative Medicine (TCIM) dashboards, providing dynamic, real-time data to support evidence-based policymaking and strengthen global collaboration in this field.

Our MEDIFLY bio-dressing employs Maggot Debridement Therapy (MDT) to effectively disinfect and debride chronic wounds, while our upcoming bullfrog collagen dressings aim to support the body’s natural healing processes.

By integrating traditional wisdom with modern medical innovation, we strive to offer comprehensive care solutions that address the multifaceted needs of patients, particularly those with chronic wounds. The global diabetes epidemic continues to escalate, with projections indicating a 59.7% increase in prevalence between 2021 and 2050, rising from 6.1% to 9.8% of the global population. This surge underscores the urgent need for effective management strategies to mitigate associated complications, such as diabetic foot ulcers.

Cuprina Wound Care Solutions (Nasdaq: CUPR) is committed to addressing this challenge through innovative wound care solutions. Our MEDIFLY bio-dressing utilizes Maggot Debridement Therapy (MDT) to effectively disinfect and debride chronic wounds, reducing the risk of infections and amputations. Additionally, our research into collagen wound dressings derived from bullfrog skin has shown promising results in accelerating wound healing.

By focusing on advanced, nature-inspired therapies, we aim to improve outcomes for individuals affected by diabetes-related complications, contributing to global efforts in managing this growing health concern. Individuals with diabetes are up to 39 times more likely to face the possibility of amputation compared to those without the condition. With 70% of all leg amputations occurring in people with diabetes worldwide, the need for effective wound care solutions has never been more urgent.

At Cuprina, we’re dedicated to providing innovative solutions that can help preserve quality of life and avoid unnecessary amputations. Our MEDIFLY product is at the forefront of this mission, offering a groundbreaking approach to wound healing. Clinical data reveals a limb salvage rate of 90.9% and a wound closure rate of 45.5% in challenging patient populations.

In Singapore, where the rate of lower extremity amputations is alarmingly high, with approximately four procedures conducted daily in public hospitals, the need for alternative treatments is critical.

We understand that Maggot Therapy might be a novel concept for some, but it’s essential to explore all effective wound care options. Learn more about MEDIFLY by visiting our website: https://cuprina.com/

At Cuprina, our journey started with the vision of our Co-Founder, Carl Baptista. With a background in Biotechnology and Applied Entomology, Carl’s passion for harnessing biological solutions to tackle global challenges has been unwavering. His career began in pest control, where he discovered the untapped potential of insects in various industries.

This passion led Carl to explore medical applications of insects, particularly maggot debridement therapy for chronic wound care. Driven by the desire to enhance existing treatments, Cuprina Wound Care Solutions was born. Today, we continue Carl’s mission to revolutionize wound care with innovative, insect-based solutions.
