🏋️‍♂️ Can cancer patients exercise during treatment?
Yes! It can make a big difference.

64-year-old Mr Zhang, diagnosed with lymphoma three years ago, didn’t let cancer stop him. With guidance, he took up weight training and found it boosted not just his strength, but also his confidence and energy.

Dr Akhil Chopra, Senior Medical Oncologist at OncoCare, reminds us: exercise during treatment, when done safely and tailored to each patient, can ease side effects, improve recovery, and uplift quality of life.

It’s one of the hardest questions any patient can ask.

In her feature with The Straits Times, Dr Valerie Shiwen Yang, Senior Medical Oncologist at OncoCare Cancer Centre, shares that:
🌱 Prognosis is not just about numbers; it’s about how we choose to live meaningfully each day.

Triple Negative Breast Cancer (TNBC) is one of the more aggressive types and it behaves differently.

Here’s what makes it unique:
🔹 TNBC doesn’t respond to hormonal therapies (like estrogen or progesterone blockers)
🔹 It’s more likely to affect younger women and those with BRCA1 mutations
🔹 TNBC has a higher risk of recurrence, especially in the first 3 years
🔹 It often requires chemo-based treatment because targeted therapies are limited
🔹 Despite its challenges, many patients respond well to early treatment

🎗️ The good news? More research is underway and newer immunotherapy and targeted approaches are showing promise.

🍷 Alcohol causes 1 death every 10 seconds.

Drinking too much, or too often, doesn’t just harm the liver — it also raises the risk of several cancers, including liver, breast, colorectal, and throat cancers.

Choosing to limit or avoid alcohol is one way to care for your long-term health. 💙

Alcohol causes 1 death every 10 seconds.

Drinking too much, or too often increases the risk of:
🔸 Injuries
🔸 Liver damage
🔸 Cancers
🔸 Heart diseases
🔸 Mental disorders

Avoid harmful use of alcohol to protect your health. It is perfectly OK not to drink
