In recent years, it feels like bad news is everywhere — and our thumbs just. won’t. stop.

But it’s not new. Doomscrolling thrives when we’re stuck in a cycle of fear + curiosity
 and yes, your mental wellbeing *might* be taking a hit if:

Ever catch yourself reading one negative headline after another, unable to stop? đŸ“°âžĄïžđŸ“°âžĄïžđŸ“° That’s doomscrolling: a loop of bad news that can raise anxiety and mess with your mood 😟💭

Studies show that younger people have more screen time now. There were also findings that those who have difficulties setting limits for themselves may be more prone to doomscrolling when faced with stress—spending long stretches consuming negative news and content online.

The cycle? Stress → scrolling → more stress.

To pour into others — your work, your relationships, your responsibilities — you first need to be filled yourself.

A teapot with no water can’t serve anyone.

😔 Burnout doesn’t happen overnight. It develops over time, and many don’t notice until they’re already deep in it.

Psychologists Freudenberger & North outlined 12 stages of burnout — Ambitious beginnings slowly turn into behavioural changes that affect a person emotionally. The last stage describes severe and complete burnout — there’s total emotional and mental exhaustion that might greatly affect functioning.

Not everyone will go through all 12, or in the same order. But the later stages—inner emptiness, depressive feelings, and full burnout—are signs that urgent help is needed.

If you’ve been feeling off for a while, this post might help you put words to what you’re going through and what might be some signs to look out for.
