Dinosaur Speech Therapy

A few weeks ago it was Dinosaur School's Out And About week at the end of term 2!

This was a new initiative planned to allow the children more learning and experience beyond the confines of the classroom, as well as to apply some of the things learnt in class.

The children went to many places including the various parks, museum, and even trips to .firestation where the brilliant and patient SCDF personnel showed the children around and let them have a taste of what being a fireman is all about!

Needless to say, the children had a lot of fun and surprised all of us constantly with how well they learnt during the trips.

The week of activities was the result of meticulous planning and preparation by the Dinosaur School teachers. All that toil was quickly forgotten when the teachers saw the smiles on the children's faces during the trips.

We are looking forward to more exciting trips and learning in the upcoming term!

In September, I had the pleasure of speaking to educators from EtonHouse International Education Group through 3 different workshops on bilingualism together with one of our SLTs, Jaslyne.

2 of the workshops were conducted entirely in Mandarin (for Chinese language educators), and 1 in English. The Mandarin workshops presented with a different set of challenges as there was a need to familiarise myself with terminology that I didn't necessarily use daily. Nevertheless I saw this as a valuable opportunity to connect and discuss with Chinese educators who have understandably different perspectives and challenges compared to English educators.

We were delighted to see educators who were highly motivated in inclusive practices and were also clued in to differences in bilingual language learning.

Grateful for the opportunity to meet and share with everyone. Looking forward to more collaboration in future! 😊
