Today marks a big moment for all ‘O’ Level students across Singapore.

As you receive your results, remember that grades do not define your worth or your future. Your results capture just one point in time, not everything you are capable of becoming.

If you are feeling disappointed, frustrated or anxious, those feelings are valid. You do not have to carry this on your own. Talking about what you are going through can help ease the weight.

If you need a listening ear, SOS is here for you 💛

It is more than just sunflowers. For someone grieving a su***de loss, it can become one of the few tangible reminders of a friendship that still lives on in memory.

In the second story of our Season of Giving campaign, we share of someone who lost a friend to su***de in 2023. They rarely exchanged gifts or took photos together, leaving little behind to hold on to.

In memory of her friend she lost to su***de, she carefully built a 2,615-piece Lego set of Vincent van Gogh's Sunflowers painting. It became a thank you gift to the SOS community who journeyed with her through one of the darkest seasons of her life. She knew that sunflowers often symbolise hope and the SOS logo has a flower too.

For those who walk through SOS’ doors after a loss, this sunflower set stands as a reminder to keep hoping and believing that healing is possible. For the creator, it is a way to hold on to a memory and honour a friend who once brought sunshine into her life.

Those grieving a su***de loss face a higher risk of experiencing suicidal thoughts themselves. At SOS, we strive to be an available lifeline, offering confidential emotional support as they navigate this difficult time.

Not wanting to die but not wanting to keep going either. Feeling exhausted by life, even when nothing looks “wrong” on the outside.

This is what passive suicidal ideation can look like.

It is more common than many people realise, especially when you have been under stress, pressure, or emotional weight for a long time. And while these thoughts may feel quiet or easy to brush aside, they still matter.

It is normal to experience passive suicidal ideation during difficult periods. But that does not mean you have to cope with it on your own or that it is not serious enough to seek support for.

Light in the Dark is a support group that offers a safe, non-judgemental space where you are able to share, listen, and be supported by others on a similar journey.

Support can change the course of life.

In this second part, our three profiles share what they would like to say to the people who supported them through their pain. Sometimes, it is a conversation or simply the presence of someone else that makes a difference.

This is for everyone who has shown up for someone in distress. Your care matters more than you may ever know.

Sometimes, the thoughts are quiet.
“If I didn't wake up tomorrow, I think that would be okay.”
“I feel like I'm disappointing people just by existing.”

If this feels familiar, you are not alone.

Passive suicidal ideation can show up when you have been carrying a lot for a long time. It is more common than many people realise, especially during difficult seasons. And while it may feel less urgent or less serious, it still matters. You still matter.

You deserve support, even if you are not in crisis.
You deserve a space where you do not have to explain or justify how you feel.

Light in the Dark is a support group that offers a safe, non-judgemental space where you are able to share, listen, and be supported by others on a similar journey.

If you have been quietly struggling, this is your sign that it is okay to reach out. Register your interest via bit.ly/SOS-LightInTheDark

Su***de leaves a lasting impact on families and communities.

In this first part, three individuals share what was going through their minds during some of their darkest moments. Their words offer a glimpse into the confusion, pain and isolation that can accompany su***de loss and suicidality.

These stories remind us that what someone is carrying inside is not always visible. Listening with care can make a difference.

It is more than just a bicycle. For someone grieving a su***de loss, it can be the last thing their loved one touched, used, or cherished.

In the first story of our Season of Giving campaign, we share the memory of a wife who lost her husband to su***de.

She remembers how he spent months searching for the right bicycle, comparing models and imagining the journeys ahead. When he finally chose this one, it brought him such joy. He cared for it, upgraded it, and rode it across Singapore with a sense of freedom she loved seeing in him.

As life changed, the rides became less frequent. He often spoke about getting back to it, yet somehow never did. The bicycle was eventually left untouched.

For his wife, this bike now serves as a gentle reminder to look closer, listen with care, and cherish every moment with the people we love.

If someone close to you has been feeling overwhelmed and weighed down by thoughts of su***de, it can be difficult to know how to support them. Sometimes, the kindest thing we can offer is a reminder that they do not have to face it alone.

Light in the Dark is a support group that offers a safe, non-judgemental space where they are able to share, listen, and be supported by others on a similar journey.

If a name or face comes to mind as you read this, consider sharing this post with them. A simple message from you might be the reminder they need that someone cares and that support is within reach.
