Carrying a baby is hard work. Giving birth is hard work. After birth recovery is hard work. Nobody said it was going to be easy. So why do we make things harder for ourselves with all the pantangs and old wives tales?
Let's debunk three pantangs in this post. 1. AVOIDING SPICY FOODS DURING PREGNANCY. You're gonna thank me for this. This one isn't true!!! In fact, your pregnancy is the last time you're gonna get to eat spicy foods. Once you've given birth and start breastfeeding, that's when you would need to quit spicy foods because baby is gonna ceret beret.
2. YOU'RE EATING FOR TWO; Okay I'm not gonna deny that you need the extra food. But PUH-LEASE you don't need to force two servings of everything on a pregnant woman. In fact, it's not the quantity that matters but the quality of the food. Remember, always eat a balanced diet and make sure to look after your health because once your baby is born, trust me, it is NOT easy to get your prepregnancy bod once you've abused it because baby is going to take from you the good stuff.
3. SCRATCHING YOUR TUMMY LEADS TO STRETCHMARKS. First, let me let out a long and loud sigh. SSSSIIIIIGGGGGHHHHHH. Ok done. Now let's talk about your symptoms. When you are pregnant, you are going to experience all sorts of funny things. Heartburn, morning sickness, indigestions, swelling feet, breakouts, enlarged nose, etc. An itchy body doesn't sound too far off! However, scratching yourself excessively will only do more harm than good. You may experience satisfaction, but it's only temporary. Healing skin tends to be itchy. With dermal tearing, your nerves respond by creating the itchy sensations. Apply oils and rub yourself to prevent this! I know it's tough but that's the best solution I got for you for now.
I hope you're gonna google and read up more on myths and folklore! I enjoyed myself debuking these and learnt new things on the way.
