What is real scapular retraction when doing rows?

Many of us know that a strong upper back means stronger mid and lower trapezius muscles and this is done by doing lots of rows. However, many do it wrongly.

✅ The key is to not confuse thoracic extension from scapular retraction — think about pulling your shoulder blades back and down, not puffing your chest upwards.

When you row with proper scapular movement:
✔️ Your mid-back muscles (rhomboids & lats) do the real work
✔️ You reduce strain on your neck, shoulders, and elbows
✔️ You actually build strength where you need it

Next time you row, slow it down. Dissociate thoracic extension from scapular retraction.

New to cardio? You don’t need a gym to get your heart rate up — just a little space at home.

Start with marching on the spot: go slow, then raise your knees higher and pick up the pace. Add light weights if you’re ready for more. Then try stepping up and down on a stair or kerb — it’s a simple way to build stamina while working against gravity.

Just 10–15 minutes a day is enough to boost your energy, circulation, and overall mobility.

Pro tip: consistency beats intensity every time.

No gym? No problem. Here are 4 beginner-friendly strength exercises you can do right from your living room — no equipment, minimal space, and maximum benefit.

Start with sit-to-stands from a chair to build lower body strength and balance. Add in incline push-ups using a counter to activate your upper body without overloading your joints. Raise your arms overhead for better shoulder mobility and posture, then finish strong with chair dips to target your triceps.

Consistency is key — just a few rounds a day can build real strength over time.

Want to slow down ageing? Start with the basics — not the latest miracle cream.

The secret lies in these 4 pillars: get sunlight daily to lift your mood and support hormone balance. Eat an anti-inflammatory diet rich in colours and whole foods. Prioritise good sleep (7–9 hours) so your body can repair. And move your body regularly — cardio and strength work keep your joints, muscles, and heart young.

No shortcuts. Just smart habits. Stay consistent, stay sharp, stay young(er).

This mysterious organ in our body called the Fascia isn’t just “wrapping” for your muscles — it’s a living, moving tissue that connects your whole body. If it gets tight, you’ll feel it as stiffness, reduced mobility, or even mysterious aches.

Stretching helps, but sometimes you may get chronically stuck. That's when you will need modalities like:
✨ Dry needling
✨ Skillful myofascial releases
✨ Specific PNF stretches

In this video we explain what we have experienced with fascia in the clinic with clients and how we explain it.

Few people understand and explain it. We just thought it would be good to let others pick our mind.
Enjoy!
