What is real scapular retraction when doing rows?
Many of us know that a strong upper back means stronger mid and lower trapezius muscles and this is done by doing lots of rows. However, many do it wrongly.
✅ The key is to not confuse thoracic extension from scapular retraction — think about pulling your shoulder blades back and down, not puffing your chest upwards.
When you row with proper scapular movement:
✔️ Your mid-back muscles (rhomboids & lats) do the real work
✔️ You reduce strain on your neck, shoulders, and elbows
✔️ You actually build strength where you need it
Next time you row, slow it down. Dissociate thoracic extension from scapular retraction.
