Lay Lim Teo, a former Accenture leader and Country Managing Director from 2007 to 2020 and Chairperson from 2020 to 2021, shares her insights: “One thing that is really special about Accenture is the relationship we have with clients.”
Next, Robert Chew who served as Managing Director of Communications and High Tech in Singapore and Strategy in ASEAN from 1993 to 2007, adds: “He spoke very highly of the Accenture team. He said that, ‘Accenture team will always deliver.’”
Mark Tham, the current Country Managing Director in Singapore, discusses our journey of creating real-world digital change at scale: “We made a big pivot in terms of our focus. So that’s where we decided we need to start being more bold in doing real, large-scale digital projects. It presented itself in terms of the Singpass, Corppass opportunity. The journey to implement it was anything but easy. We were committed to fix the problem. And we were relentless, we found the cause of the problem, and we steadied the go-live.”
Willie Cheng, a former Country Managing Partner from 1989 to 2003, recounts a memorable experience: “We were working with beta technologies from Microsoft, and at one time, in the middle of the project, it stalled. The technology just wasn’t working. So out of desperation, I called up Microsoft in Seattle and asked to speak to Bill Gates. It made a difference, and the client was suitably impressed.”
Cecilia Chua, who was Managing Director from 1988 to 2004, shares her story: “Inland Revenue Department, at the time, we saw stacks and stacks and stacks of files. So he said, ‘Okay, so your job is to reduce all of these things into nothing.’ And that’s how we came up with the Tax Processing Center and we pushed to change the law to accept image documents.”
Joo Boon Lim, Senior Managing Partner from 1978 to 2005, offers advice: “I would say this, in Accenture, don’t be afraid to try something that has not happened before.”
The video concludes with the 50th anniversary emblem, followed by a white background featuring the Accenture logo.]
