Finished my postnatal sessions with and it feels bittersweet🥲 Nik is my source of comfort, reassurance, and problem solver (breastfeeding woes, any aches/pains, etc) all-in-one. Ever since I found her for my second pregnancy, I have been recommending her to everyone I know. She and her team does amazing and personalised care, not just providing relaxing and effective postnatal massages/Jamu, but also throwing in lactation advice and massage when needed. Breastfeeding for me is never easy, but this round she has made it even easier than before! My recovery has been so smooth sailing this time round. Thank you again Nik, forever grateful ☺️🙏🏻 (Disclaimer: in no way sponsored! Just wanting to share thanks, and for anyone looking for a non painful experience of lactation massage and truly good/valuable advice, with the best jamu massage, head her way)

Personally, Nik (the founder) helped me tremendously during my postpartum the 2nd time, and breastfeeding went from an absolute nightmare with my firstborn, to literally a breeze with my second. First up: Pregnancy
Heard of the "pregnancy glow"? Well, don't be discouraged if you feel lousy, fatigued, bloated, nauseous, with aches and pains all over. Most women (including myself) feel all of the above! Each trimester is fraught with various ailments. The good news is that it will all end in 9 months with a bundle of joy😊
I felt the best in my 2nd trimester, when the nausea and tiredness had ended, and the heaviness/aches/difficulty sleeping of the 3rd trimester had yet to set in. This is also when you start to feel baby's movements (and they don't hurt yet!).
This picture was taken just 4 days before I delivered. I felt large, and could barely walk without getting shooting pains down my leg, as well as pelvic pains. Sitting down was uncomfortable, and I could not find a position to sleep in that didn't worsen my symptoms.
To help with the backaches and leg cramps, I went for plenty of pregnancy massages, did yoga, swimming, and simple exercises (my patients will know how much I nag them to do stretches and exercises😅). Warm foot soaks at night also helped with cramping and soreness.
My point is, do not feel disheartened if you are not feeling yourself during your pregnancy. And if you are one of the lucky ones that are breezing through it, be thankful and enjoy it!

It's heartbreaking having to break the news of a miscarriage to my patients, and nothing really takes away from the loss. Speaking from experience, only time can make the pain better, but each pregnancy after brings back the trepidation and fear again. Just remember, you are not alone in this. As a gynae, we try our hardest to help both medically and emotionally, and I always look forward to the day I get to celebrate in a couple's joy after previous heartbreak. Here's to all the strong mummies/mummies-to-be out there💪
Let's start talking about miscarriage openly and honestly - it's time to break the taboo. Four of our team share our miscarriage stories.
