In today's fast moving digital transformation economy, invitation of guests to our live meetings, seminars and conference becomes a precious face time meeting in a venue. A productive engaging meeting with tons of content to share requires precise planning and ex*****on.

When we invite a foreign Non English speaker expert in his own field to share his knowledge, how important is the voice of simultaneous interpreters, to convey the Essence of the message? VERY IMPORTANT!

The role of trained conference simultaneous interpreters is NOT just to interpret what the speaker said from one language to another. The entire ESSENCE of the message / messages has to be conveyed. That entails, not just content expertise research and familiarity of the terms, the grammar and the vocabulary from one language to the other.

The tonality of the voice, the emphasis of the various messages, the right time to pause as well during interpretation. These are all very important factors, that contribute to a successful Audience engagement during and in meetings. Especially when we have spent the time and money to invite foreign non English speaking speakers, and audience into a workshop, seminar, meeting or conference.

Fear of public speaking? Recalled my first time in 2017 as host and facilitator to a group of ASEAN mayors and country leaders, our minister of Health in Singapore for a 2 days conference. Yes, I was nervous!
Still did a good job with loads of preparation!

What it takes to embrace the nervousness and lead the conference as host on stage and deliver the conference as facilitator?

1) Embrace the nervousness. It's OK to be nervous because we care! Do not fight it. Do not let it cripple you, that's it.

2) Prepare notes. Its okay to prepare notes. Keywords on cue cards, short pointers. Just don't read it.

3) Interact with our audience. Build rapport and know that we are all here to share content. As facilitator, the audience is the content expert, not us.

4) Speak clearly, slowly, articulation.
