Do you know how important is eye hand coordination? It involves three step process:
Eyes - identify the details of the activity
Brain - process what we see and send instructions to the body
Hands - follow the brain's instructions

There is a strong link between eye hand coordination and learning abilities, academic tasks, and communication.

So, let those little hands work: grasp, build, feed self, throw, catch, draw, thread, slot, stack, push and pull. Incorporate it into playful, reciprocal interactions to create perfect therapeutic mix :)

Probably the hardest concept for parents and caregivers to accept in therapy. When we focus on the end goals, the road to achieve them might feel like never ending torture. When we appreciate the process and enjoy the connection, while accepting that developing skills takes time, we are not only calmer, but our child benefits much more from the intervention.

What we see is the tip of the iceberg, but what we need to pay attention to is what's under the water: individual differences, physical sensations, thoughts, feelings, perception and ideas. Our role is to respond to the message underneath, not what's on the surface.

Parents often ask what kind of toys to buy to best support their child's development. While it will really depend on the particular kid's needs, the best answer is: simple. Preferably no buttons and overwhelming sounds or flashing lights. Toys that encourage sensory exploration, teach cause-and-effect, promote symbolic play. The best toy is another person engaged in an activity that your child enjoys. Let them be the leaders.
