Fritillaria Bulb (Chuan Bei Mu)

Commonly used to relieve coughs, resolve phlegm, and moisten the lungs.

Key Functions 主要功效与益处:
• Dissolves phlegm 清热化痰
• Dissipates nodules 散结消肿

Common Uses 常见应用:
• Manages chronic cough 用于久咳
• Helps expel thick yellow or bloody phlegm that is difficult to expectorate.有助于排出难以咳出的浓稠黄色或带血痰液。

✨ How to use it 食用方式
☕️ It can be brewed in soup with figs and almonds, or ground into powder and taken with hot water.

Did you know that cooking can change an ingredient’s nature in TCM?

🔹 Raw lotus root is cooling in nature. It helps clear heat, generate fluids, and is often used for heatiness, or to relieve thirst or dryness. 生藕性寒,有清热、生津的作用,适合内热、口渴、燥热不适时食用。

🔸 Cooked lotus root (like the ones in your soups!) is warm in nature, gentler and more nourishing. It strengthens the spleen and stomach, and supports digestion. 熟藕性温,更偏滋养,健脾养胃,助消化。

Overate a little over the festive season?

Try these acupressure points to ease bloating:
试试按压以下穴位,帮助缓解腹胀不适:

1️⃣ 足三里 (Zu San Li) ST36
Supports digestion and reduces fullness. 有助于促进消化,缓解饱胀感。
📍 Four finger-widths below the kneecap, slightly to the outer shin. 位于膝盖下四横指,胫骨外侧一横指处。

2️⃣ 中脘 (Zhong Wan) CV12
Helps relieve bloating and stomach discomfort. 可帮助缓解腹胀及胃部不适。
📍 Midway between navel and base of breastbone. 位于腹部正中线,肚脐与胸骨下端之间的中点。

3️⃣ 阴陵泉 (Yin Ling Quan) SP9
Often used to reduce water retention and dampness. 常用于改善水肿及体内湿气。
📍 On the inner lower leg, just below the knee. 位于小腿内侧,膝盖下方,靠近胫骨内侧凹陷处。

⏳ Gently massage each point for 30 to 60 seconds on both sides. Small, consistent pressure can help your body recalibrate after indulgence.
每个穴位双侧轻柔按压 30 至 60 秒。持续而温和的刺激,有助于身体在饱食后恢复平衡。

🍀Herb of the Month 本月草本
Purslane (ma chi xian)

A humble herb with powerful cooling properties 🌿

Traditionally used to clear excess heat and support the body’s natural detoxifying processes, this herb is often turned to for digestive upsets linked to heat and dampness, as well as for calming irritated skin. It is especially appreciated in hot, humid weather like Singapore, when the body is more prone to internal heat signs.

✨ How to use it
☕️ Steep the dried herb in hot water or tea.
🥬 Lightly cook the fresh herb before eating.

Note: Herb is cold in nature. Consume in moderation if you have weak digestion (Spleen and Stomach deficiency accompanied by cold symptoms), as excess may cause loose stools.

一味温和却拥有强大清热作用的草药 🌿

传统上常用的清除体内多余的热气,帮助身体进行自然的排毒调理。对于与湿热有关的肠胃不适,以及舒缓皮肤红痒或敏感情况,这味草药也经常被采用。像新加坡这样炎热潮湿的气候中,当身体更容易出现内热征象时,它尤其受到重视。

✨ 食用方式

这个情人节,不妨慢下来,一起享用一碗温润舒心的山药燕麦。温和健脾养胃,帮助消化、补充能量,由内而外滋养身体。

🥣 材料(1–2人份):
- 山药 100克(切丝或切丁)
- 燕麦 40克
- 牛奶或其他植物奶 200毫升
- 枸杞 10克(装饰用)

🔖 做法:
- 将燕麦和山药加入牛奶中煮至软糯。
- 盛出温热,撒上枸杞即可。

A little warmth, a little nourishment, made for two 💕
This Valentine’s Day, slow things down with a bowl of warm, comforting oats with Chinese yam. It gently strengthens the Spleen and Stomach, supporting digestion and energy, and nourishing the body from within.

🥣 Ingredients (Serves 1-2):
- Chinese Yam 100g (shredded or diced)
- Oats 40g
- Milk or other Plant-based Milk 200ml
- Goji 10g (for garnish)

🔖 Directions:
- Cook oats and yam together in milk until soft.
- Garnish with goji and serve warm.
