Many new parents may not realise that high bilirubin levels in newborns can do more than cause yellow skin, they can also affect a baby’s hearing.

🍼 Jaundice is common in the first week of life, especially in premature babies, and is usually harmless with proper care. But in more severe cases, high bilirubin levels have been linked to sensorineural hearing loss.

Even if your baby has recovered from jaundice, hearing loss may not be immediately noticeable. That’s why it's important to follow up with a hearing check when the baby turns 6 months, as this is the stage when they become more responsive to sounds.

👂 Take the next step in protecting your child’s hearing health. Book an Earscreen appointment at https://earscreen.cordlifetech.com/sg/earscreen-registration.

A simple check now can make a big difference later. 💛

👓 Thinking about ditching your glasses for good?

With laser refractive surgery (e.g. SMILE, CLEAR, SmartSight & SILK), many enjoy clear vision without the hassle of glasses or contacts, sometimes for life!

But will you still need glasses later on?

🔍 The short answer: Maybe and here’s why:

1️⃣ Ageing (Presbyopia)
Typically after 40, your natural lens loses flexibility, making close-up tasks like reading difficulty. That’s why reading glasses may still be needed, even if you had perfect vision after surgery!

2️⃣ Injury or Trauma
Accidents or eye conditions may alter the shape of your cornea or lens, affecting your vision.

3️⃣ Environmental Exposure
UV exposure, dry eyes, or occupational strain can gradually impact visual clarity.

💡 While laser surgery reduces your dependence on glasses, it cannot stop natural ageing or external factors. However, you can now preserve your own corneal lenticules post-surgery as your own biological resource, with future potential to treat eye-related conditions*.

Ready to take the first step? 👉 Learn more at https://optiq.asia/.

*Eye conditions treatable by lenticule implantation are currently under clinical trials.
**Results may vary for individuals and cannot be guaranteed. To determine your eligibility for SMILE, a refractive assessment is required.

🔊 We are surrounded by sounds every day, but is your child exposed to safe noise levels?

Below 60 dB: Safe for babies
Below 70 dB: Safe for kids and adults

🚨 Loud sounds are not always harmful, unless the exposure is prolonged. Watch for signs like ringing ears or muffled hearing.

🛡️ To protect those little ears, consider using earplugs in noisy places, turn the volume down, or take quiet breaks to let their ears rest.

Infants and young children are generally more sensitive to sound, so protect their hearing as they grow. Book your Earscreen appointment today at https://earscreen.cordlifetech.com/sg/earscreen-registration and give your child’s hearing a green light! 💚

*Decibels (dB) measure sound intensity.

Little Sarah was just a child when she was diagnosed with Acute Myeloid Leukaemia (AML), a rare and aggressive form of blood cancer. Despite undergoing chemotherapy and a bone marrow transplant, her condition remained critical, and treatment options were quickly running out.

In 2020, Sarah was offered a glimmer of hope — a clinical trial using cord blood stem cells alongside white blood cell transfusions. Her family saw this as her “last chance at life,” and bravely took the leap.

As of 2023, Sarah had been in remission for over a year. Her remarkable recovery is a testament to the life-saving power of cord blood stem cells and the vital role they play in advancing treatments for childhood leukaemia.
