Most people by 50-60's will develop deposits of plaque in their coronary atery resulting in heart attack if the occusion is significant.
However studies have found that a large proportion of heart attack are caused by blockages which are non-obstructive or arteries that had only minor deposits. These minor deposits in the wall of the arteries may rupture at any time, if trigger by the toxins in the cigarette smoke. These ruptured plague then rapidly progresses into complete blockage of artery causing a heart attack even in the 30s to 40s.

Therefore smokers, take heed of the age old wisdom, " Get rid of the burden of the truly non essential and get on to enjoy fully the beauty of Life."

Stop Smoking now, the sooner the better.

Perfectionism

It is good always to aim for the highest and try our best to achieve it. However it is equally important to be mindful that afterall we are only human with limitations and making mistake and missing work target sometime is just normal.

Unhealthy perfectionism desiring perfect score in all endeavours all the time can become an unhealthy burden and pathological giving rise to conditions which may compromise joyful living. Such manifestations include panic attacks, insomnia, gastritis, irritable bowel syndrome, chronic headache, anxiety, depression, eating disorders, self harm including early mortality and su***de.

So be human, know the truth about life, our strength and weakness and reconcile with our limitations for the productive life which come with fortitude through diligent amd honest mistakes.

If in doubt, please check with your family practitioner or psychologist

Diaphragmatic Breathing

Diaphragmatic breathing is breathing that is done by contracting the diaphragm, a muscle located horizontally between the thoracic cavity and abdominal cavity. This is done deliberately at first but with some practice can become spontaneous and relaxed. During such inhalation, the diaphragm contracts, the belly rises, air enters the lungs and the chest rises as the lungs are filled. Diaphragmatic breathing is best done when one is relaxed.

This contrasts with the regular breathing in which air enters the Lungs in addition to the diaphragmatic breathing, with the contraction of the intercostal muscles lining the rib cage which raises the rib cage with varying degree of belly rising.

Ageing and various disease lung conditions reduces the elasticity and strength of the lungs and diaphragm. Regular Diaphragmatic practice rejuvenate and restore such 'elasticity' and Lung functions to a certain extent if carried out regularly as proven in various scientific studies.

Other likely benefits of this type of breathing are as follow:

It helps you relax,
It lowers your heart rate.
It helps lower your blood pressure.
It improves your core muscle stability.
It improves your body’s ability to tolerate intense exercise.

Recent study also found significant benefit in patient who suffer from acid reflux, GERD and their ability to control their belching significantly improved thereby reducing their symptoms of heartburn and acid reflux.. The benefit is found to be sustained even after medications were stopped.

Obstructive Sleep Apnoe

-Diabetis,
-Dementia,
-Chronic fatigueability etc. causing accident proneness

Moreover these conditions can become hard to control even with treatment if the snoring sleep apnoea is not reckoned with and remedied.

You are susceptible to sleep apnoea if you are:
-Overweight, male and middle aged
-Smoker
-Frequently snore loudly
-Unrefreshed afetr sleep

War against Obesity from the beginning..

Research have found that besides the dietary constituents and the regularity for feeding as important factors for the growth and future health of children, the predominance of night-time caloric intake of infants also play a very important role.

Studies done found that 20 % of our children were found to consume 50% of their caloric intake during the night (7pm-7am). These infants have larger weight gain form 12-24 months and higher risk of becoming overweight at 24 months suggesting that they are becoming metabolically disadvantaged and maybe vulnerable to various metabolic syndrome in future.

Hence it is recommended that baby sleep/wake cycle which should have become fairly established at 12 month old should also have the dietary habit set in line with their sleep wake patterns with greater proportion of their caloric intake during the day( 7am-7pm) so that the body metabolism become aligned to the activity level for better metabolic control, growth and health maintenance from infancy onward into the future.

With increasing evidence pointing towards the relevance of aligning the dietary habit into alignment with the body's diurnal rhythm, let us do it right and give them a head start from childhood onward...
