Tired of being bounced from one specialist to another?

We hear this a lot. Parents frustrated by repeating the same story. Children overwhelmed by multiple sessions with zero connection between them.

Here’s how we’re different.

At Total Communication, we use a transdisciplinary approach which means your child’s sp*ech therapist, educational therapist, and developmental therapist don’t work in silos. They work together, as one team, with one shared goal: helping your child grow in a way that actually makes sense for them.

It’s not just collaboration. It’s full integration. Less stress. More progress. Real support, not just appointments.

We don’t just treat challenges, we connect the dots.

👉 Learn more about how this approach works:

The transdisciplinary approach requires several disciplines to come under one umbrella to work on shared goals for the client and patient.

Many parents think their child is reading well until school gets harder. Some kids memorise stories, guess from pictures, or rely on routines instead of actually decoding words.

That’s why we’re offering a FREE 15-minute literacy and phonics assessment at Total Communication. It’s quick, stress-free, and gives you real insight into your child’s reading skills.

In just one session, our therapist will check:
✅ Letter names and sounds
✅ Digraphs (like ch, sh, th)
✅ Blending and sounding out words
✅ Recognition of common words
✅ Reading fluency with simple sentences

After the session, you'll get a quick breakdown of your child’s strengths, challenges, and reading level based on age expectations. We use the Seeing Stars™ framework to guide our insights.

👧 Ages: 3 to 7
⏱ Duration: 15 minutes
💬 Therapist-led with immediate feedback
💡 Support options available after, if needed

When a child speaks in short sentences, it’s not always shyness, it could be a sign they’re stuck. Don’t just hear the words. Notice what’s missing.

If your child often says things like:

“Me want toy”

“Go playground now”

“No like that”

“She run fast”
..and struggles to explain what happened in their day or connect ideas in a sentence,it might be more than just a communication quirk.

At Total Communication, we support children who understand far more than they can express. Through targeted language intervention, we help them move from short phrases to confident, connected communication.

She’s so bright… so why is school such a struggle?

If you’ve ever asked yourself that quietly, in a moment of doubt, then you’re not alone.

Your child might be articulate, full of ideas, and wildly curious and still come home with incomplete homework, missing steps, or tears over writing.

It’s not about motivation.
It’s not about laziness.
And it’s definitely not about intelligence.

Something else might be going on, something that’s surprisingly common but often overlooked in fast-paced classrooms.

This blog explores what that something is and how Educational Therapy can shift things in ways tuition simply can’t.

If this sounds familiar, don’t scroll past.

"My child just isn’t a math person." 🤔

We hear this a lot. But sometimes, it’s not a lack of interest, it’s a real learning difference called dyscalculia.

Struggles with:
🔸 Telling time
🔸 Remembering steps in math
🔸 Understanding quantity or number patterns?

It’s not laziness. It’s not poor effort.
It could be dyscalculia and yes, there is support that actually works (no boring drills, we promise!).

Some kids struggle not because they aren’t smart, but because they weren’t ready.

School readiness isn't just about knowing how to count or read. It's about being able to focus, follow instructions, manage big feelings, and feel safe in a classroom.

At Total Communication, we support children in building the foundations they need to feel confident and capable when they step into school.

Is this the right sp*ech therapist for my child?

Not a fun question to Google at 11 PM especially with ten tabs open and every clinic sounding… kinda the same.

So how do you really know?

We broke it down.

Just 7 real questions parents in Singapore should ask and the red flags to look for 👇

1. Have they worked with kids like mine?

Autism, sp*ech delay, stuttering your child isn’t a template. You want someone who gets their unique mix.

2. Are they using methods that actually work?

Trendy doesn’t mean effective. Ask about their why. Good therapists know their stuff and they’ll explain it in a way that makes sense.

3. Can they talk to YOU like a human?

If they can’t partner with you, it’s a no. You need support, not jargon.

4. Do they understand bilingual kids?

This is Singapore. If they treat two languages like a “problem,” walk away.

5. Is play a part of their therapy?

If they don’t play, they don’t get it. Especially for younger kids, play is the work.

6. What are other parents saying?

Skip the clinic brochure. Real stories from real parents tell you everything.

7. Are they warm, patient, and actually into kids?

No checklist replaces that gut feeling when someone really sees your child.

At Total Communication, these aren’t just checkboxes. It’s our culture.

Led by Prudence Low, who’s spent 20 years helping children across all kinds of needs from sp*ech sound issues to complex developmental profiles, our team puts relationships first. Always.

Why won’t my child just sit and do the homework?

If you’ve whispered (or screamed) this under your breath recently… you’re not alone.

The fidgeting.

The chair spinning.

The magically urgent need to p*e, right after opening the workbook.

📌 It’s not always about laziness or defiance.

Sometimes, it’s about executive functioning struggles like planning, focusing, or even just remembering what they were doing five seconds ago.

Other times, it’s ADHD. And no, not the hyperactive stereotype you’d be surprised how many bright, sensitive kids mask their inattention with restlessness.

Or maybe it’s sensory overload. Or just… not enough movement throughout the day.

🧠 Whatever the reason, the homework drama has roots. And it’s worth understanding before chalking it up to bad behaviour.

We broke it down, why it happens, what might help, and when to seek support if it’s not getting better.

At Total Communication, we help kids figure this stuff out so homework time doesn’t feel like a battlefield.

Many children struggle to complete homework due to challenges with attention, focus, and executive functioning. Understanding these difficulties can help parents support their children's learning more effectively.

Some kids take a little longer to find their rhythm and that’s okay.
It could be focus. It could be behaviour. It could be that letters just don’t click the way they do for others.

What matters is noticing. And then doing something about it.

Our 1:1 School Readiness Programme was built for these quiet challenges, the kind that often get missed in group settings.

It’s not tuition. It’s not playgroup.
It’s a plan that follows the child, not the class.

If you’re an educator or parent wondering what more can be done, we’re here to chat.
