When we think of Yakult, the first thing that comes to mind for most of us would be a lady with a trolley, knocking on our doors and getting us to buy some packs of Yakult from her. It's a drink that's a staple in many Singaporean families, and our AAC members over at Pine Grove had the special opportunity to visit the beverage's manufacturing factory with us!

Over at the factory, attending members learned in detail the benefits of the Yakult drink for our gut health, how the drink is made, and more. Each person also got to enjoy a bottle of Yakult during the session. Thank you Yakult factory for hosting us! ❤

Our centre recently concluded our annual Functional Screening cm Silver Carnival! Were you there?

This year's annual Functional Screening cm Silver Carnival event was held on 1st August, located at both our centre as well as the nearby pavilion. The pavilion housed booths from partners including NUHS, SG Digital Office, Silver Generation Office, CPF Board, NParks and more, sharing useful information ranging from personal wealth management to healthy living and personal safety to the seniors and residents.

Over at our centre, functional screenings were facilitated by Project Silver Screen for senior residents. At just a small subsidised fee, participants got to check that their eyes, ears and mouth were in good health, all in the convenient venue that was our active ageing centre.

Thank you to all our staff, partners and especially our participating seniors for joining us in this year's screening and carnival event! A special shoutout to our lovely volunteers as well for lending a hand in ensuring a smooth event for everyone! See you again next year ‍🙋🏻‍♀️🙋🏻🙋🏻‍♂️

🇸🇬SG60 celebrations with Active Global❤️🤍

To celebrate this year's National Day, we scaled up our regular Wednesday La Kopi session on 6 August into a lunch party for everyone. Attendees were treated to some yummy catered lunch, performances by our dear AAC members, and even a customised cake for Singapore's 60th birthday. Thank you everyone for taking the time to join us on that day, and we hope you all had fun! :)

It was the perfect weather last Thursday to be outdoors, and that's exactly what our seniors did! 💦🏑

Together with students from Henry Park Primary School, our centre seniors went on a joint Learning Journey organised by Sport Singapore to the 22nd World Aquatics Championships, which is held in Singapore this year. Attendees from the group got to check out various interactive activity zones, including participating in senior centric games like seated floorball and cup stacking, Dance Of The Nation - an annual nationwide initiative bringing Singaporeans together through a fun and energising dance routine in celebration of National Day, and more. Thank you once again to Sport Singapore for this opportunity! 😊

Intergenerational (IG) programmes are a type of activity programme aimed at fostering bonds between different age groups, enhancing social engagement for seniors, and offering young participants new perspectives through conversations.

While it is often more common to see younger kids such as those in pre-school participating in IG programmes, Active Global's centres also welcome slightly older participants, like students from Guangyang Secondary School. The students kept our seniors company through various activities such as colouring, table-top games, and some afternoon chit-chat. These may be regularly-conducted activities at our centre, but it was the company that made it more meaningful for everyone, especially our seniors. Thank you students for your time and company at our centre! 😊🙋🏻‍♂️🙋🏻‍♀️

From time to time, we bring our activities outside to the nearby pavilion for a change, in both the surroundings as well as the overall atmosphere. The larger outdoor space not only brings a breath of fresher air, it enables us to hold sessions in a bigger capacity too, just like our recent Chair Workout session earlier this week. 🪑🏋🏼🌳
