Let’s talk about the gap and what new research tells us about what it really means.

While we now understand that some separation is normal postpartum, the size of the diastasis can still have an impact, especially when it comes to how we feel about our bodies and how our muscles function.

Studies have found that larger inter-recti distances (gaps between the abdominal muscles) were associated with
> Higher levels of body image dissatisfaction
> Lower abdominal muscle strength and function

What this tells us is that the gap isn’t just cosmetic. A wider DR can affect how we engage our core, how supported we feel during movement, and even how confident we feel in our own skin.

But here’s the important part: This isn’t about “snapping back” or closing the gap completely. It’s about restoring tension, control, and function, and that looks different for everyone.

With the right support and education, recovery is possible not by shrinking the gap, but by building a strong and functional core you trust again.

Struggling to p**p regularly or comfortably? Good habits and better body awareness can make all the difference, from how you sit to how you breathe. A healthy poo routine should feel easy, complete, and strain-free.

It takes consistency and time to create a bowel routine.

DM us if you need help understanding your bowel habits, one of our women's health physios can guide you.

If you're always on the lookout for a toilet sign because you're p*eing too often, know that this doesn't have to be your norm. Let's talk bladder habits.

Here’s what’s considered normal:

• 4-6 wees per day
• 0–1 times overnight
• Flow starts strong, then peaks then slows as you empty
• The urge should come gradually, not suddenly or urgently neither should you be reminding yourself to go to the toilet

If you constantly go “just in case”, or p*e at every toilet you pass, or even wake up multiple times a night just to p*e, these might be signs of:

• Poor bladder habits
• Pelvic Floor Dysfunction
• Overactive bladder

Your bladder is trainable. You don’t have to live with constant urges or anxiety about needing a toilet nearby.

💬 DM us to find out how a women’s health physio can help retrain your bladder for better control and comfort.

When you're on holiday, it's easy to sink into full relax mode (hello, sun loungers 😎), but your body still loves a little movement.

Gentle walking helps improve blood flow, support digestion, reduce pelvic tension, and keep your core and pelvic floor muscles engaged just enough to stay happy. Especially after long flights, big meals, or all-day lounging, a short stroll can do wonders.

So go ahead and stretch those legs, breathe deep, and let your pelvic floor come along for the ride.

✨ Share this with your holiday buddy, you’ll both feel better for it.

Embrace Life...Embrace Physiotherapy.

Life is a journey...let me help you embrace it.

A woman’s body is different structurally, functionally and hormonally to men, so treatment naturally requires a specialised approach. Which is why I created a clinic that exclusively empowers women to embrace life.

My vision is to raise pelvic health awareness through advocacy, education and by providing high quality, evidence based physiotherapy services. I work with you in developing an individualised treatment program to help you achieve your goals. This is a partnership.

Whether you need assistance with bouncing forward with pregnancy or post-natal recovery, would like to return to pain free s*x or live life without worrying about having a change of clothes or pads I use my specialised training to identify your contributing factors and create a holistic solution to your problem.
