One in 3 women leak when they sneeze, cough, or exercise. Most have adapted around it.

Extra pads, avoiding the trampoline at the kids’ party, skipping the run.

Stress urinary leakage is not inevitable. Surgery is rarely the first step. Pelvic floor physiotherapy is the evidence-based starting point.

The 6-week OBGYNE check is doing exactly what it’s designed to do.

Depression screening. Healing stitches. Birth control. Cervix closed. Pap smear if needed. Done.

It is not designed to assess your pelvic floor, screen for prolapse, check your abdominal separation, look at your C-section scar mobility, or tell you whether your body is ready to run, lift, or have s*x again.

That’s not a criticism of the appointment. That’s just what it is.

A women’s health physiotherapy assessment at 6 to 8 weeks is an hour long (and tbh can span a couple of sessions depending on complexity!). It covers your body from the inside out. It’s the appointment most women don’t know exists until something goes wrong.

You can refer yourself. No GP letter needed. Link in bio.

You waited. You advocated for yourself. You went under. You woke up on the other side still hurting.

Here is the part most women are not told: by the time surgery happens, your nervous system has spent years adapting to persistent pain. The pelvic floor has been bracing. Pain pathways have shifted. Surgery removes the lesions. It doesn’t automatically undo any of that.

The full explanation is in the blog. Link in bio.

Do you know the difference between lubricants?

Some help with friction whilst others may moisten the tissues. They don’t help with muscle tension, nerve sensitivity, or hormonal changes to vaginal tissue.

If s*x is still painful, your body is asking for something more specific.

Our latest blog breaks it all down. Link in bio.

Intimacy is not just about what happens in the bedroom.

For many couples, the foundation starts outside of it.

Open conversations about comfort, fatigue, stress and expectations can change the entire dynamic. When there is space to speak honestly, pressure often reduces.

Sometimes intimacy looks like shared responsibility. Supporting night feeds. Taking on the mental load. Giving each other the rest that has been missing.

Sometimes it looks like low-pressure touch. A cuddle. A quiet conversation. Time together without performance expectations.

Pain, desire and connection are influenced by far more than one physical factor. The context of someone’s daily life matters.

We recently had the opportunity to sit down with Dian, S*x Therapist at Nambani to unpack s*xual pain.

When s*x hurts, avoidance makes sense. Pain with s*x isn’t just about being tense or doing something wrong. The body learns to protect when something hurts. Over time, that protection can show up as tension, avoidance, or anxiety around intimacy.

Stay tuned this week as unpack more with Dian.

If you’re postpartum and not sure where to start *this is for you*.

At Embrace, postpartum recovery isn’t about “getting your body back.”

It’s about building capacity, strength, and confidence for the life you’re living now and in the future.

Our pathway looks like this:
💪🏽 We start with understanding your body through a 1:1 postnatal assessment: your core, pelvic floor, movement, and goals.

💪🏽 From there, we build capacity gradually. That might look like
👉🏽 Mum & Bubs classes (from as early as 2 weeks postpartum)
👉🏽 physio-led clinical rehab classes in a small 4:1 group format designed to support real-life strength.
👉🏽And when your body needs extra care, we use hands-on bodywork to help ease aches, pain, and overload along the way.

There’s no rush.
No comparison.
Just the right support, at the right time, for your body.

If you’re postpartum, you’re welcome here.

Embrace Life...Embrace Physiotherapy.

Life is a journey...let me help you embrace it.

A woman’s body is different structurally, functionally and hormonally to men, so treatment naturally requires a specialised approach. Which is why I created a clinic that exclusively empowers women to embrace life.

My vision is to raise pelvic health awareness through advocacy, education and by providing high quality, evidence based physiotherapy services. I work with you in developing an individualised treatment program to help you achieve your goals. This is a partnership.

Whether you need assistance with bouncing forward with pregnancy or post-natal recovery, would like to return to pain free s*x or live life without worrying about having a change of clothes or pads I use my specialised training to identify your contributing factors and create a holistic solution to your problem.
