We are revolutionising emergency care for our elderly patients through Khoo Teck Puat Hospital (KTPH)โ€™s pioneering Acute Geriatric Assessment Unit (AGAU). Since 2019, this innovative approach has transformed emergency care for seniors, who make up 25% of Emergency Department (ED) visits.

The AGAUโ€™s multidisciplinary team conducts comprehensive assessments of each patient's medical, psychological, and functional needs using standardised tools, developing personalised care plans that address their unique needs. ๐Ÿซถ

The impact has been significant: over 60 ED Registered Nurses and physicians specially trained in geriatric care, 15,208 bed days reduced, nearly $10 million in healthcare costs saved, improved health outcomes and safer discharges, shorter ED and inpatient stays, and reduced hospital admissions and return visits.

In recognition of this innovative approach, KTPH was presented with the Exemplary Innovation Award at the Public Sector Transformation Awards earlier this month. ๐ŸŒŸ

Introducing our One NHG Dragons!

What began as a successful race in 2024 has evolved into NHG Healthโ€™s newest interest group, established in May 2025. Today, our 70-strong team from across our cluster represents the diverse tapestry of NHG Health, united by a shared love for dragonboat racing!

Under the leadership of Captain Wilson Lim from Khoo Teck Puat Hospital, Vice-Captain Syidda from Woodlands Health, and Team Manager Looi Wan Limm from Tan Tock Seng Hospital, the team has ramped up their weekly Saturday sessions to an intensive twice-weekly training regime as they prepare for the upcoming races.

While we enjoy the thrill of racing, itโ€™s the moments between strokes that truly define our One NHG spirit - the shared laughter during water breaks, words of encouragement when muscles tire, and collective cheers after challenging drills. United by the paddle and a shared purpose, our NHG Health folks burn with passion with every stroke to the finishing line!

It's super easy now, thanks to our partnership with community doctors in the Central-North Primary Care Network (CN-PCN)โ€”bringing these essential services right to your doorstep! Join us as we take you through the one-stop screening experience!

โœจ After your screenings, chat with our primary care coordinator about ways to live healthier! You can even check the NHG Cares app for local activities!

To-date, more than 700 patients with diabetes have benefitted from the one-stop screening services, with 92 CN-PCN GP clinics referring patients to 12 screening locations, including Active Ageing Centres, Community Centres, and Resident Networks.
