Alhamdulillah. Its an honour that Mr A once again opted for our service to upkeep one of the pusara he visited earlier, to lay some bricks around the pusara.

We refilled the pusara with sand, laid a carpet grass and placed bricks around the pusara. We also touched up the name plate with a fresh paint work.

Thank you once again, Mr A.

Alhamdulillah. We were given the opportunity to clean and upkeep 5 pusara belonging to Mr A families.

He also engaged us to provide the transport to visit and spent some quiet moments at each pusara.

Thank you Mr A for trusting us to deliver the services.

The ability to provide for all creatures is one of the attributes that show the Lordship of Allah ﷻ, as no one can ever try or achieve this feat. If someone provides for another it is only from what he has been given from the provision of Allah. This attribute should direct us to His worship alone.

Every soul will taste death, and only on the Day of Resurrection will you be requited in full [for your deeds]. Whoever is saved from the fire and admitted to paradise will have triumphed, for the life of this world is nothing but a fleeting vanity.

Syeikh Abu Bakar Uthman al-Dimyathi al-Bakri stated in his writing:

يُسَنُّ وَضْعُ جَرِيْدَةٍ خَضْرَاءَ عَلَى الْقَبْرِ لِلْإ تِّباَعِ وَلِأَنَّهُ يُخَفِّفُ عَنْهُ بِبَرَكَةِ تَسْبِيْحِهَا وَقيِسَ بِهَا مَا اعْتِيْدَ مِنْ طَرْحِ نَحْوِ الرَّيْحَانِ الرَّطْبِ

“It is sunnah to place green leaves of date tree, for it will lessen the punishments of the deceased through the blessing of its recitation of tasbih and this is equated with the custom of scattering fresh and sweet-smelling flowers on a grave.”

(Refer I’anah al-Thalibin, 2/119)

“I used to forbid you to visit the graves, but now visit them, for they will draw your attention away from this world and remind you of the Hereafter.”

Sunan Ibn Majah (1638)

Thus, visiting the graves is a means of remembrance of Allah SWT and would motivate us to worship Him and prepare ourselves for the hereafter.

IRSYAD REGARDING VISITING GRAVES

As Muslims, we are reminded to observe proper etiquette and religious guidelines when visiting graves, mausoleums or shrines.
In Islam, the purpose of visiting graves is to reflect and remind ourselves of death, as well as life in the Barzakh.

Additionally, it is also a way to commemorate the owner of the grave and remember their good deeds and traits.
Muslims are advised to adhere to the following religious guidelines and etiquettes when visiting graves:

Wearing appropriate clothing which covers the
Upon arriving at the cemetery, it is a sunnah to give salam to all its inhabitants, and recite the supplication taught by the Prophet s.a.w.:

Meaning: Peace be upon you all, O inhabitants of the dwellings (i.e. the graves), amongst the believers and the Muslims. Indeed we are, Allah willing, soon to follow (to die also). We ask Allah for well-being for us and for you.” [Hadith narrated by Imam Muslim]

Visitors to the grave may recite supplications and recitations recommended by scholars.
Visitors are strongly advised not to step on or over a grave or sit on a grave.

Visitors are strongly discouraged to express sadness by wailing hysterically in a loud voice as this goes against the etiquettes of visiting graves.

It is also discouraged to speak loudly, shout, argue or fight in the cemetery.
Each and every Muslim must remember that the deceased are normal beings and servants of Allah. Thus, actions that have no basis in Islam or resemble worship to entities besides Allah s.w.t., are prohibited. Some of these superstitious practices include:

To circumambulate around a grave, stroking its soil and obtaining some of the soil with the intention of prostrating to it, as an act of worship towards the deceased.

Any form of glorification and supplication directed to the deceased besides Allah s.w.t.
Any action that puts a person into a trance, or the reciting of mantras and incantations in the cemetery which have no basis in Islam and contradicts its teachings.

Bringing food, drinks and flowers as offerings to the spirit of the deceased.
