Recently, 10 staff from Alliance 21 Group completed the Yellow Ribbon virtual run-in support of second chances. Yellow Ribbon supports rehabilitation programmes for inmates, ex-offenders, their families, and children.

The CEO Challenge 2022 | Alliance 21 Finishers
(Biking, Running, Walking)

One of the best parts about sports is witnessing teamwork in action, where all participants share a common vision, and a will to succeed. This year, notwithstanding the pandemic, twenty four members of the Alliance 21 Group completed a gruelling combined target of 4500km by biking, running and walking, in a period of just 90 days. This feat was achieved through their dedication to the cause and encouraging each other to go the distance, and proves that nothing is insurmountable if we work together to achieve it!

Kudos to the team for a job well done! Keep safe, and keep healthy!

On 12 November 2021, in conjunction with the SAAA-IATA Air Cargo Day, Alliance 21 signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with the Changi Airport Group (CAG), as one of the pilot group of participants in the Truck Dock Slot Booking (TDSB) trial. The trial has been identified as a prioritized use case as part of the industry digital transformation efforts led by CAG, and the MOU represents our commitment to collectively work towards the TDSB targets and roadmap, and to undertake the respective roles for the trial and beyond. Representing Alliance 21 at the MOU signing ceremony was our Chief Digital Officer, Rodney Ee.

Alliance 21 and OneHypernet Forms A Partnership to Help SMEs Digitalise Their Cross-Border Payment Solutions

OneHypernet and Alliance 21 signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) for the development of a cross-border payment solution for the settlement of invoices between Alliance 21 and their global network partners. The digital payment solution will use the latest blockchain technology by R3 to consolidate global payments within Alliance 21 networks of partners to provide them with a simplified solution that helps all parties overcome high bank charges and improve their cash flows, by reducing the number of payment points and associated charges.

Alliance 21 will extend this payment solution to its overseas network partners (also known as alexFRIENDS), on its ALEX.world portal.

The digital cross-border payment solution is expected to roll out by 2Q2022. Alliance 21 expects at least 30 of its network partners to benefit from the rollout of the cross-border payment solution, which is expected to strengthen Singapore's position as a global financial and trading hub.

"OneHypernet uses confidential computing and enterprise blockchain technology to connect Alliance 21's network of partners on a single global ledger, enabling a real-time shared view with standardised protocols and data privacy. When data privacy is preserved, all payments within the network can be included for multilateral netting. This greatly reduces the number of cross-border settlements between the partners, resulting in better cashflow and savings of up to 96% of cross-border fees," said Tan Jin, Co-founder, OneHypernet.

The Employee of the Month for Enthusiasm and Emotions core value – Leslie GARCIA

Leslie is recognised as a strong pillar of A21. Despite all the challenges that she faced, Leslie took up the role to run the operations with very limited training and guidance and overcame all those that came her way. It was a stressful period for her to manage, learn and teach at the same time, on top of juggling her other roles in the Management of the company. Throughout the period she was in operations, she was able to control her emotions and handled everything calmly and cheerfully. She also contributes in many other ways to the company. For example, in the current A21 Finishers Challenge, Leslie is always checking and cheering for all the other participants. She keeps motivating the team members to persevere and push towards achieving the goal, and her enthusiastic manner and positive energy really keeps everyone going.

Joey is a highly focused worker, and consistently aims to achieve good results in whatever she does.
She takes pride in her tasks and is someone who can be relied upon to do her work with little or no supervision required. She has a strong sense of ownership for her responsibilities and deals with problems quickly and effectively.
She has assisted to manage several accounts for the past few years of her employment with the company and ensures that all their needs and requirements are fulfilled. Joey recognizes that she is at the forefront of our customer service and operations, and several customers have praised Joey’s responsive and attentive service given to them.
Joey is also a focused teacher and trainer – she has trained several part-timers who have successfully been able to do quality inspection, kitting and packing for our customers. She ensures the picking area is well organized and will adopt the best method to pull and retrieve items for packing efficiencies.

The Employee of the Month for Serve with Humility core value – D**G Yabo.

Yabo is a humble guy who takes his work with pride. He is always ready to go beyond his call of duty to fulfil what the company requires him to do, accomplishing the tasks with good results. Not only does Yabo takes the initiative to step forward to render his assistance when needed, he is someone who likes to build rapport with everyone. On several occasions, he would give suggestions and ideas to new drivers on the route planning or parking areas that he is familiar with. He will never claim any credit for jobs well done at the end of the day. His attitude and humble character makes working with him enjoyable and trustworthy, as he can be relied on for any tasks given to him. He is also an independent worker who is capable to resolve issues on his own, and he will always ensure his duties are accounted for at the end of the day. He is also very responsible and understanding, and giving his best in every task assigned to him.

On 1 October 2021, Benjamin Ong, our CEO of the Alliance 21 Group and 2nd Deputy Chairman at SAAA@Singapore, was an invited speaker at the Payload Asia Conference, which was held online due to covid concerns. Benjamin spoke about Digitalisation and Shaping the Future, and gave the participants his views from an air cargo perspective, updating them on the recent developments and initiatives that the industry was implementing and pursuing.

Alliance 21 had the opportunity to participate in this National effort to assist MFA in transporting Covid-19 vaccines to Thailand. It is our honour to contribute our specialized freight capabilities handling this time critical commodity, ensuring the cold chain integrity and smooth transition of the vaccines on flight to Thailand.

We hope our contribution strengthens the mutual ties between Singapore and Thailand, and our efforts to overcome the pandemic together.

As Singapore enters the phase of administering COVID-19 vaccination in the fight against the pandemic, the CEO of Alliance 21, Benjamin Ong, has also taken the lead to receive the vaccination as part of the nationwide drive in the essential industries.

COVID-19 has inevitably played a huge impact on our industry but being an essential service provider, we do not stop delivering what we promise and we do not compromise the safety of the community in our line of duty. Our staff at the front line doing medical delivery and handling of cargo are also in line for the vaccination, as well as going through a regular regime of swabbing test in the coming weeks. We take the highest precautionary measures and strive to continue to provide a safe community for all our customers.

During a time when Singapore is into phase 2 of post Circuit Breaker, I wish to pay a tribute to my colleagues who are working tirelessly at the frontline to deliver life-saving medication.

While the team of ALEX Medical Couriers may have their own anxieties the past months, they came to work each day with an attitude of hope to win the fight and knowing that their work matters. They endured tight delivery schedules, adapted to requirements for safe distancing and hygiene
habits, and constant adjustments to new operational protocols; example; contactless delivery. Yet, they do not know what they are facing as they focus making sure that the patients will get their medication.

I’m proud of the team’s dedication and passion to serve as specialist in healthcare transportation.
