Dr Anthony Tang recently treated a 33-year-old who ignored a 5cm lump for two years, leading to a Stage 2 diagnosis. Alarmingly, cases of breast cancer in women under 45 are on the rise in Singapore, with many dismissing early signs, thinking they’re too young to be at risk. His youngest patient was only 22.
The importance of regular self-exams starting in your 20s, yearly mammograms from age 40, and genetic testing for those with a family history, cannot be overstated. Early detection can make a life-saving difference.
