There are many reasons as to why we may cry tears of joy.

Creating emotional intimacy and vulnerability

Crying can help people connect and form a strong bond. A shared moment of tears of joy allows people to express their emotions that may mean more than words.

A form of communication

People often cry tears of joy in times of celebrations. It lets people know that you are enjoying the moment and truly happy. Crying when someone has done something special for you can also show appreciation and gratitude.

Feelings of relief

Releasing built up tension and repressed emotions may manifest as crying tears of joy when the situation has been resolved. It can create a sense of joy and our bodies may respond by crying.

Let’s debunk a myth: Gratitude isn’t about glossing over difficulties; it’s about acknowledging them while seeking moments of positivity. By recognizing life’s challenges and still finding reasons for appreciation, we cultivate resilience and nurture our mental well-being. Embracing gratitude means honoring the full spectrum of emotions with grace and authenticity. 🌟

Discovering the Power of Gratitude 🌟

Gratitude goes beyond mere appreciation—it’s a mindset of abundance, recognizing the blessings in our lives, big and small. Practicing gratitude cultivates positivity and resilience, offering a brighter outlook even in challenging times. Research shows it boosts happiness and builds resilience, enhancing our well-being. We can learn to embrace gratitude daily through journaling and expressing thanks to others.

Our Story

The Centre for Effective Living (CEL) was established in 1988 to provide evidence-based, integrative mental health care efficiently and effectively to children, adolescents, young adults, adults and families in Singapore. We are dedicated to making a positive impact on the lives of our clients by expanding the reach of evidence-based, client-focused mental health care and believe that with support, everyone can maximise and attain their potential.

Over the course of many years of experience, we have determined that:

Earlier is better - Outcomes improve dramatically for nearly every disorder or condition when clients seek help sooner rather than later; it is better to be cautious and intervene early to prevent challenges from escalating.

Input vs Output - We are active in engaging and motivating our clients, but positive change requires mutual effort and determination. Clients who show a consistent drive to attend sessions, practice new skills and challenge maladaptive habits will see the most treatment benefits.
