On 8 February, the grand finale of Chingay 2025, Main Parade 2, unfolded with yet another remarkable evening filled with energy and celebration. A spectacular crowd gathered at the F1 Pit Building to witness the vibrant performances and festivities, marking the conclusion of this year’s Chingay parade. More than 60 CERT volunteers were on duty for this final deployment, ensuring safety and providing First Aid support throughout the event.

Unlike previous nights, this deployment had a few minor injuries among performers and attendees, including abrasions, bruises, and fatigue-related unwellness. Our CERT team responded swiftly, administering first aid and ensuring that those affected received proper care without disrupting the event. Despite the high tempo, they adapted efficiently, coordinating across different zones and responding promptly to incidents. Their ability to remain composed under pressure played a key role in maintaining a safe and seamless event.

With this final deployment, our CERT volunteers have successfully supported the entire Chingay 2025 operations, including two rehearsals, one NE show, and both Main Parade nights. This year’s Chingay featured over 4,000 performers, making it one of the most vibrant showcases of Singapore’s diverse culture. Throughout the deployments, our CERT volunteers worked closely with SRC and SJS to respond to any incidents swiftly and ensure smooth coordination across all areas. Beyond their core responsibilities, our volunteers also played a vital role in fostering teamwork and camaraderie, bringing their own food to share among fellow volunteers and assisting EP staff in distributing dinner. Their willingness to go the extra mile not only ensured smooth operations but also strengthened team spirit throughout the deployment.

On 6 Dec, we joined the celebration of 20 years of dedication by PA CERT volunteers—champions of emergency preparedness and community resilience! 💪

From the inspiring "PA CERT for the Nation" exhibition to showcasing vintage and modern CERT vests, the event highlighted how far we’ve come in igniting the kampung spirit. 🌟

And here's the highlight: Kebun Baru C2E clinched the National Civil Emergency Preparedness Awards (Silver)—a step up from our previous Bronze! 🥈👏 Your commitment and teamwork have truly made us stronger as a community.

Throwing back to 3 November 2024, when Kebun Baru C2E celebrated the CERT 20th Anniversary Appreciation Event at Kebun Baru Community Club, celebrating two decades of community safety efforts. Attended by 77 residents and graced by Adviser Mr Henry Kwek, CCC Chairman Mr Loh Jwee Poh, Honorary Chairman Mr Loy Boon Keow, BBM, and C2E Chairman Mr Wong Teck Ling, PBM, the event honoured long-serving volunteers and community partners. Notable mentions included residents Vijay Anand and Aparna Rajagopal, whose quick actions prevented a fire from escalating earlier in the year.

The gathering provided an opportunity for attendees to reflect on CERT's achievements and the crucial role of volunteers in maintaining community well-being. Following formal recognitions and speeches, participants enjoyed a buffet tea, allowing for casual interaction and the strengthening of community bonds.

As CERT looks towards the future, the event reinforced the programme's importance as a cornerstone of community resilience. It highlighted the ongoing commitment to safety and cohesion in Kebun Baru, emphasising the power of collaboration in building a more secure neighbourhood for years to come.

🎉 Celebrating 20 Years of Dedication and Community Spirit: CERT Anniversary Appreciation Event 🎉

On 3 November 2024, the Kebun Baru Community Club buzzed with excitement as we gathered to celebrate two decades of the CERT program and honor the incredible individuals and community partners who have been the heart of our community’s safety and resilience.

This meaningful event brought together 77 residents from various Kebun Baru RNs, with the aim of expressing heartfelt gratitude to our long-service volunteers and recognizing the collaborative efforts of our community partners. Thank you to the Singapore Police Force, Singapore Civil Defence Force, and the Ang Mo Kio Town Council.

We were honored to have Adviser Mr Henry Kwek, CCC Chairman Mr. Loh Jwee Poh, Honorary Chairman Mr. Loy Boon Keow (BBM), and C2E Chairman Mr. Wong Teck Ling (PBM) join us for this special occasion.

A special mention goes out to Vijay Anand and Aparna Rajagopal, whose swift actions earlier this year helped avert a serious fire incident at BLK 259. Their bravery and readiness to act epitomize the spirit of CERT and the strength of our community. 👏🔥

After the formal recognitions, attendees enjoyed a buffet high tea, mingling and exchanging stories in a relaxed and celebratory atmosphere. It was a perfect way to reflect on past achievements while fostering connections and inspiration for the future.

❤️💉 On 28 Sept 2024, our Kebun Baru residents rolled up their sleeves at a blood donation drive at Kebun Baru CC. 70 residents registered, and a phenomenal 65 bags of blood were collected! 👏

This heartwarming effort is a partnership between Kebun Baru’s C2E volunteers and the Singapore Red Cross . This collective contribution shows the true spirit of giving back. 🩸✨

A big thank you to all donors for being the lifeblood of our community! 🫶

🚨🔥 Safety first, always! On 28 Sept 2024, Kebun Baru residents proved their mettle during a fire evacuation exercise at Blk 253 AMK St 21.

Guided by C2E volunteers, alongside SCDF & SPF, 150 participants learned life-saving skills and practiced evacuation routes. 🏃‍♂️💨 Kudos to everyone for showing that teamwork makes the safety dream work! 💪✨

On 28 September, Kebun Baru C2E organised a "back-to-back" event, a fire evacuation exercise followed by a blood donation drive, led by Kebun Baru C2E Chairman Mr Wong Teck Ling, PBM. (The residents were notified by C2E and CERT members on 25 September.)

The fire evacuation exercise took place at Blk 253 Ang Mo Kio Street 21 in collaboration with the SCDF and the SPF. Around 150 residents participated, learning valuable safety procedures and practicing evacuation routes.

Following the exercise, the focus shifted to the blood donation drive, held at Kebun Baru CC. 70 residents registered to donate, resulting in a final count of 65 bags of blood. The success of the drive was a testament to the community's spirit of giving back.

Singapore Red Cross and Kebun Baru C2E are now working together, aiming to make it a regular occurrence and encourage ongoing participation from residents.

The event showcased the importance of community preparedness and the power of collective action! Well done Kebun Baru C2E!
