The Department of Surgery at National University Hospital is a family of 14 specialties: Colorectal Surgery, Hepatobiliary and Pancreatic Surgery, Breast Surgery, Trauma Surgery, Upper Gastrointestinal Surgery, Endocrine Surgery, Plastic Reconstructive and Aesthetic Surgery, Neurosurgery, Urology, Paediatric Surgery, Cardiac Surgery, Thoracic Surgery, Vascular Surgery and Multi Organ Transplant Su

‘I lost all my strength, and then I fell down’: The struggle of autoimmune disorder.

Ms Stella Mui was diagnosed with generalised myasthenia gravis at NUH after a number of general practitioners and optometrists could not figure out what was wrong with her eyesight. Dr Kay Ng Wei Ping, Senior Consultant, Division of Neurology, Department of Medicine, NUH, explained why the condition can be difficult to diagnose and the possible reasons women are more commonly affected by the condition before the age of 40.

国大医院虚拟医生 助病患了解手术信息 (NUH’s virtual doctor helps patients learn about surgeries)

A/Prof Tiong Ho Yee, Senior Consultant, Department of Urology, NUH, led a group of medical students from NUS Medicine to use commercially available AI software to produce patient information videos on robotic partial nephrectomy and laparoscopic donor nephrectomy. Among 12 patients who responded to a survey, 80 per cent felt comfortable using AI videos to get medical information.
