Why? Love for others may lead to disappointments when others do not deliver to expectations. When self love is well established, we are no longer dependent on someone else to make us happy.
Self love sounds like a quality we are naturally endowed with. After all, we live and breathe us 24/7 - what's there not to like?
Our negative inner voice has the tendency though to get the most frequent or loudest airplay, broadcasting messages like we are not good enough, not successful enough, not slim enough, or not pretty enough.
On a scale of 1 to 10, with 1 being total disgust to 10 being absolute adoration for self, where are you at?
If at a depressing low, what is one thing you could do, regularly and consciously, that could help you inch up that scale and stay there?
One positive daily action could be to make yourself feel good with the use of scents. LOVE from applied on the centre of chest (heart chakra) brings immediate soothing to the self.
