Contributing insights from the eldercare sector, Naomi noted a rise in urinary tract infections and respiratory symptoms, often tied to reduced fluid intake among residents, prompting the team at Allium Healthcare to increase hydration rounds between meals. Anglo Caregivers expanded on these challenges, adding that elders with cognitive impairments may not recognise signs of dehydration, while individuals with limited mobility face increased risk of heat edema. In response, enhanced measures such as cooling aids and shaded rest areas have been introduced to protect vulnerable elders.
