Self-care day for Caregivers @ St Luke’s ElderCare

We had such a meaningful time partnering with St Luke’s ElderCare for a caregiver workshop 💛

The session was filled with lots of interaction, laughter and small moments of reflection as everyone took part in a mental health check-in, emotion check-in, breathing exercises, brain games and even a little dancing. It was really nice seeing everyone so engaged and open, and just taking that time to pause and focus on themselves for a bit. Swipe to the end to see our moves!

Thank you to for having us, we’re really grateful to be part of this session and look forward to more together!

In our 3rd post to wrap up our World Autism Awareness Day series, Approaching someone with autism starts with respect and patience.
Give them space, use clear and simple language, and be mindful of sensory sensitivities. Your small actions can create safer, more inclusive spaces for everyone.
Let’s continue learning, unlearning, and supporting others, one step at a time. 💛

03/04/2026

In this 2nd part, Prevention starts with understanding and support. Creating safe environments, establishing routines, identifying triggers, and using technology aids can make a big difference. Most importantly, it’s about identifying the reasons for wandering and addressing their needs, before distress escalates. Ultimately, there is no one-size-fits-all solution. Everyone is different, so support should be tailored to the individual.

In our last part, we will explore how approach someone with autism. Stay tuned! 🩷

In light of World Autism Awareness Day, we’re releasing a 3-part series to better understand and support people with autism, especially children. Wandering (also known as elopement) is not “bad behaviour”. Instead, it is often used to communicate discomfort or fear. A child may wander due to sensory overload, curiosity, anxiety, or a need to escape an overwhelming situation.
Understanding the why helps us respond with empathy, not judgment. In part 2, we explore how to prevent wandering behaviours to ensure the child’s safety. 💙

The UN announced that this year's theme is "Autism and Humanity - Every Life Has Value," to highlight and affirm the dignity and worth of all autistic people as part of our shared human future.
This theme reminds us that inclusion goes beyond awareness. It is about recognising, respecting, and valuing neurodiversity in all its forms. Creating inclusive and supportive environments is not only a matter of dignity, but also essential for mental wellbeing. When autistic individuals feel understood, accepted, and supported, it can have a meaningful impact on their mental health and quality of life.

Bipolar disorder is a complex mental health condition that affects mood, energy, and daily functioning. Individuals may experience periods of mania or hypomania, alongside episodes of depression. Significant fluctuations may cause it to be difficult to stick to routines or manage emotions, impacting wellbeing, relationships, and everyday life.

Despite the challenges, many people living with bipolar disorder lead fulfilling lives with the right combination of support, treatment, and healthy routines.

On this day, we wish to honour their lived experiences, while encouraging open conversations about mental health. In line with the goals of World Bipolar Day, we wish to focus on empowering individuals, emphasising their resilience, and breaking down harmful stereotypes of the condition. Together, we can create communities that are more compassionate, informed, and supportive.

Down Syndrome Day
21 March 2026

Aligned with this year's theme "Together Against Loneliness", we hope to highlight the importance of acceptance and warmth, so everyone can feel valued and included. At the same time, we wish to acknowledge the dedication and quiet strength of the caregivers. As we celebrate with brightly coloured, mismatched socks, let's also honour those working behind the scenes, often navigating high stress, burnout, and isolation, with little recognition. Let's recognise the signs, reach out with care, and stand together to support and empower
caregivers! ❤️❤️
