Understanding the 2026 Integrated Shield Plan (IP) Rider Changes
From ๐ ๐๐ฉ๐ซ๐ข๐ฅ ๐๐๐๐, new IP rider rules will take effect in Singapore as part of efforts to keep healthcare insurance sustainable.
๐๐๐ฒ ๐ญ๐ก๐ข๐ง๐ ๐ฌ ๐ญ๐จ ๐ค๐ง๐จ๐ฐ:
If you already have an IP rider purchased ๐๐๐๐จ๐ซ๐ ๐๐ ๐๐จ๐ฏ ๐๐๐๐, there is ๐ง๐จ ๐ข๐ฆ๐ฉ๐๐๐ญ ๐จ๐ง ๐ฒ๐จ๐ฎ๐ซ ๐๐ฎ๐ซ๐ซ๐๐ง๐ญ ๐๐จ๐ฏ๐๐ซ๐๐ ๐ and ๐ง๐จ ๐๐๐ญ๐ข๐จ๐ง ๐ข๐ฌ ๐ซ๐๐ช๐ฎ๐ข๐ซ๐๐.
The changes mainly affect new riders purchased from 1 April 2026 onwards.
For new riders:
โข Annual co-payment cap increases from about S$3,000 to S$6,000
โข The 5% co-payment structure remains the same
โข Deductibles and co-payment caps are shared across both inpatient and outpatient treatments
For treatments such as outpatient chemotherapy or inpatient hospital care, the difference is usually ๐ก๐จ๐ฐ ๐๐จ๐ฌ๐ญ๐ฌ ๐๐๐๐ฎ๐ฆ๐ฎ๐ฅ๐๐ญ๐ ๐จ๐ฏ๐๐ซ ๐ญ๐ก๐ ๐ฉ๐จ๐ฅ๐ข๐๐ฒ ๐ฒ๐๐๐ซ, rather than the cost of each visit.
MediSave can also help offset part of outpatient cancer treatment costs, including up to S$600 per month for cancer drugs.
We hope this overview helps clarify the upcoming changes. ๐
